My twin brother Stephen and I had just been to the wonderful Brevnov monastery were we had enjoyed a great time checking out the fantastic architecture of this beautiful monastery and we had also enjoyed great beers in the two taverns located in the monastery...grounds namely Klasterni Senk and Klasterni Sypka, before catching our tram back to the Lesser Town we decided to drop into a favourite tavern of ours across the road from the monastery namely U Klastera were we had a great time. This tavern is the real deal,a traditional authentic interior, nice decor and furnishings throughout this multi roomed tavern, a cool looking ancient serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern, its a proper cosy place to unwind in. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, tavern had just opened so we were amongst the first customers of the day, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff served us a beer each,we opted to have beers from Pivovar Kacov, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we just chilled out and took in the great tavern we were in. On this visit I cannot really comment on the meals as we were here only for beers but I have ate here on many occasions over the years and the meals are delicious, proper Czech cuisine, hearty, generous and filling. My beer was absolutely fantastic, a rich, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink, a beer style I am particularly fond of. We both really enjoyed our beers in here and although we were here for one beer each before we moved on as on every other visit to here we had a great time. U Klastera is easy to locate, we jumped tram number 22 from Malostranske Namesti to stop Brevnovsky Klaster which drops you off practically by U Klastera. Opening hours; Monday to Sunday, 11am till 11.30pm. A great tavern, one I highly recommend you visit if your in the areaMore

We got a good service, food and beers. It is not bar or pub, if you want to get good time by enjoying typical Czech dishes, then you should stop by.

In a city that is fast succumbing to tourism it's such a refreshing change to go to a restaurant that still caters for locals and welcomes tourists. U Klastera is one such restaurant and although just a short tram ride out the tourist city centre...it's most definitely well worth the journey. We had just been to the wonderful Brevnov Monastery and decided to drop into here for a meal and drink. This restaurant is the real deal being an unspoilt Czech restaurant, the interior is awesome with a traditional decorative scheme with nice furnishings and plentry of seating options both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling streets around this restaurant. We ordered beer from Pivovar Klasterni and for our meal my twin brother Stephen and I decided to have goulash and what a great choice we made. The goulash was really thick and tasty and the dumplings absolutely fantastic and coupled with our delicious beers made for a wonderful dining experience. We really enjoyed our meal and were totally full and happy after our meal. I have been here several times over the years and this place gets better and better with each visit . These are the type of places that are becoming harder to locate in Prague and if you do get a chance to go to a place like this seize it with both hands. We moved on after our delicious beers and meals and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. U Klastera is simple to get to by jumping tram number 22.25.97 to stop Brevnovsky Klaster which drops you off practically by this restaurant. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,11am till 11.30pm. A great restaurant and well worth checking out.More

Popped in here on my latest trip to Prague as I was visiting a few places around the Brevnov area. The service is great and the beer here is well tapped, I ended up having the Primator Stour which was very good - a great...Czech attempt at a style that can be sometimes a bit meh. Only had an Utopenece which was fine and a great accompaniment to the beer. Well worth a trip out to Brevnov if you combine it with other places such as Klasterni Senk and U PrezidentuMore

Tasty food at a very reasonable price. A place where you can feel the local atmosphere. The waiters don't speak english very well and the menu is not translated, issues of being a genuine bar, but they will do everything in their hands to offer...the best service. Dinner for two about 430 CZK: with two main courses, beer and a small bottle of water. Warning! This place is a smoking establishment (at least where we were seated, it didn't seem like it was any other option) and they don't accept credit card, so be sure you have cash before ordering.More

The best roast pork I have ever tasted. A very pleasant staff combined with excellent beer. Lukáš Kousal

This is a no-frills local pub not a restaurant. See the U Klastera entry on these listings. Excellent cheap Klaster beer brewed in the Brevnov Monastery across the road. Standard pub grub at great price looked good but we were only there for the beer....Easy to visit both as the tram stop is outside between the two - same tram as for the castleMore

A good standard no-frills locals pub selling great Klaster beer from Brevnov Monastery across the road at a low price. Totally untouristy but friendly. We were only here for the beer but the standard Czech pub food at a low price looked good. Very handy...to visit both the pub and monastery with its own pub/restaurant as the tram stop - same tram as the castle - is right outside between the two.More

The entrance part has the ambiance of a classical Czech pub - smoky, ugly smelly :) But if you venture inside in the back is more decent non-smokers section. The food is decent, drinks are cheap. For friends or groups this is very good choice....I would not come here for a business meeting or for a romantic dinner, or with a younger child, but for the rest this is great. Portions are not too big, but for the price you can easily order double - and you are fine.More
