Amasing view from the top bar and a great menu. The Tuna is eccellent but has to be rare. They were surprised for that recquest. Good selection of great wines
Very rude welcome by the waiter who apparently had a bad day. With two tables by the window available (with a view), he instead seated us in the middle of the room and refused to change our table again later. Ordered raspberry limonade and got...orange one instead. Portions were tiny whereas the prices were exorbitant. The raw tuna must have been old since got stomach ache right after the dinner. Overall terrible experience.More
This restaurant provides a lovely setting for views across the city as you dine. Excellent service from our waiter, a good choice on the menu and food prepared and presented to a high quality. Will not hesitate to dine here again.
Just excellent. Did not disappoint at all. The view is superb as is the service and the food. We were even given an Amuse Bouche which was fantastic. We went for a birthday celebration but would recommend to anyone visiting Prague.
Full disclosure: I emailed the manager on June 7 to see if he'd respond to this decline in service. He did not. Here is what I wrote minus our personal contact details: Dear Manager: Our first visit to your establishment was in 2014, the first...summer that my wife and I led a study-abroad program for Villanova University in Pennsylvania. We have come back here every year (minus the Covid years) and have always been delighted by and looked forward to our meals here. Here's my last post that I found on TripAdvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g274707-d6704519-Reviews-Ginger_Fred_restaurant-Prague_Bohemia.html GINGER & FRED RESTAURANT, Prague - Nove Mesto (New Town) - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews - Tripadvisor Ginger & Fred restaurant, Prague: See 933 unbiased reviews of Ginger & Fred restaurant, rated 4.5 of 5 on Tripadvisor and ranked #348 of 6,470 restaurants in Prague. www.tripadvisor.com We even arranged to bring our students to a final breakfast buffet and a final banquet here. The point of this email is let you know that we were very disappointed by our service at lunch today. The food, as usual, was awesome, but we need some compensation/incentive to return here—particularly as we were hoping to discuss today the possibility of arranging to bring our 14 students here for a prep-arranged final meal. Here is what happened: We arrived for our 13:00 lunch reservation after a 45-minutue walk from Prague 2. When we were seated, no one offered to bring us water or come over to the table. With perspiration on our foreheads, I walked over to the first attendant I could find and asked, "Could we order a large bottle of still water until our waiter arrives? My wife and I just had a long walk." The person I talked to (younger, dark hair, seemed to be bussing tables) answered immediately, "Of course!" He soon produced a bottle of water with our server (David K. or "Skondra") fast on his heels. When David K. dropped off menus for us, my wife (who was thirsty) asked, "May I order a beer?" David K. responded, "It has to be altogether." We've never heard that. Ever. From any restaurant in any country. And we'd been in A LOT of countries. David K. dropped off Czech menus, so we had to wait until he returned to ask for English menus. To his credit, he smiled and apologized. Then he returned with English menus. When he returned, he took our order, and I asked for a wine menu because I wanted to order a bottle. He said ok and then never brought me a wine menu after he delivered my wife's beer. I sat there and sat there and sat there. My wife noted our server attending to every group except us and then returning to polish silverware. She signaled David K.; she said, "I know he saw me. Pretty soon our food will arrive, and we won't have wine." I got up and went up to our server, polishing silverware at the bar, and said that I've made my selection. He indicated that I needed to give him the order at the table (another new experience for us). So, he trotted back to the table shortly thereafter to take my official order. The amazing part—as always was the food and wine. Your food is delicious; your desserts are inventive and lovely. We've just never experienced such lackluster service. Why? The restaurant was not busy. We watched as the server attended to everyone else and polished silverware rather than attend to us. Did I offend the water by getting up to ask for water?More
We had a lovely meal at Ginger & Fred in the Dancing House, Prague. It's a unique building looking out across the river and castle, so stunning views. The food was excellent, unique, very tasty and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and efficient. Thomas, our...waiter, was an absolute star and took time and care to ensure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend a visit if you are looking for something special.More
Well it's not terrible but the place is chaotic. I booked long in advance for my partner's birthday, and asked specifically for a table with a view which the person taking the booking assured me would be possible. On arrival we were seated by the...toilets with no view at all, as though to spite us, half the restaurant including window tables were empty. The waiter struggled with English I ordered the set menu and matched wines only the food arrived, I asked after the wines and the waiter loudly announced that that would cost extra, like obviously it's what I ordered. We eventually asked to be moved, and at one point the waiter chased me outside to tell me a course was being served while I was having a cigarette. Food wise I'd say above average for a degustation, it has no aspirations to Michelin but you don't need that all the time. but service wise it's a shambles and a bit of a tourist trap. There are better options in town.More
It was a really bizarre experience. The €20 per person breakfast includes two types of the cheapest cheese, cheese in small plastic cups, two types of bad salami, eggs fried too long, separated grapes, sliced pineapple and defrosted pre-baked croissants. The coffee is from a...self-service machine and overall, in terms of the offer, you feel like you are in a two-star suburb hostel. However, the view is phenomenal and the service is very nice. The fact that you are greeted by a poster of a famous Czech chef at the entrance is quite a shame. Thank you and never more.More
This is a very stylish restaurant in the dancing buildings in Prague. The menu is quite ambitious, with lots of spuma, mousses and special drizzled sauces. The amuse boy he was quite promising and the first courses were pretty good. Of the 4 entrees that...we ordered, only the beef steak was well prepared. My duck breast was so over cooked as to be almost inedible and it was accompanied by a couple of beet ?bread cubes. It was dry and tasteless. The shrimp farci in the salmon was quite strange tasting. We paid Los Angeles prices for a mediocre mealMore
The Fred & Ginger Restaurant is a cool place to visit . Located in a great looking building that's a bit of a tourist attraction and known as The Dancing House due to it's unique design, located on the top floor ,we ordered beers ,served iced...bold and sparkling ,we took in the great views afforded from the bar area of this restaurant which are amazing ,we really enjoyed beers in here before we moved on ,it's a great restaurant and bar housed in a superb building and well worth checking out if you're in the New Town and easy to locate on Jiraskovo NabreziMore
Unprecedentedly poor service by unprofessional staff; since the place was hardly bustling with customers, one can only suppose they don’t like foreigners. While the food was acceptable the wait and the presentation was not. Lovely view from the terrace did not compensate. A pity.
Arrived for dinner at our booked time. Maitre de met us, I said good evening and his reply was you need a reservation! I gave him our reservation details and he checked the computer then gestured to us still saying nothing, was it too much...to expect a welcome to this very expensive restaurant? He proceeded to ask for our coats then showed us to our table. I requested a window table with a view when booked 48hrs in advance and said it was a special occasion. Our table had a window looking out on to another building. I asked if another table was available to his reply was you have a table. Absolutely shocking!!! The menu was then placed in front of us and he walked away!! This man is definitely loosing customers with his terrible attitude! No welcome no explanation of the menu, nothing. We decided to leave and asked for our coats. Again nothing no question asked just gave us our coats. Definitely an experience but far from the welcome and fine dining we expected. We visited earlier in the day to roof top bar for coffee, the staff were lovely and the view spectacular. Save your money if you want a fine dining pleasurable evening it this amazing venue and just go for coffee. There are no many fantastic restaurants in Prague this is not one of them!!!More
We were in Prague for about a week to celebrate New Years and we tried some pretty amazing places but Ginger & Fred's was at the top of the list. We had dinner there with my family and the service was impeccable, even though there...were 6 adults and 2 children all ordering different things (and lots of drinks) at different times. The service was fantastic and friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the scallop appetizer and I had a lovely carp with herb butter. The desserts were gone immediately after they hit the table. Recommend!More
