They say that a good way to judge a Chinese restaurant, is if it's where the Chinese eat, by that gauge this should be an amazing place to eat. Unfortunately this restaurant stands as proof that it's absolutely not true.
Being of UK origin, I...have a particular taste for Chinese food, something that's never been fulfilled living in Prague. I've visited Asia and love good modern Asian food in general, with great tastes and fresh ingredients, Asian food is something I have lots of time for. Having said that I do still crave that Chinese Takeaway taste that I was brought up on.
My first point is, don't try to think you are clever and know better, by ordering the 'dim sum' to prove the previous reviewer wrong; because you'll realise he's absolutely right. They are absolute s**t and then sum. Yellow, gelatinous, simple weird looking mush with 'something' inside. Don't.
Having said that, it's not all absolutely terrible. The batter on the battered items, was crisp and thin enough. But that's about where it ends. The sauces were similarly gelatinous and glue like, but at the same time, managing to be completely without taste. The rice was the dry up-sided form bowl type, and the pictures looked as the food tasted.
The place isn't bad looking inside (outside it's a horror), clean in a Chinese restaurant kind of way. But as you would expect a restaurant in a Chinese working mans club might look.
When we were there, there were several large (10 people round a table) groups of Asian people who came in looking like tourists. They seemed to be happy and got on with eating their lunch, they weren't loud and I certainly had no special problem with it being that way, apart from the fact that I can only assume they get served different food for it to be so popular for them.
I felt like I was at the catering at the Gangnam Style Video shoot, but I guess they had better catering on that production.
Shame is, it used to be good. But, well, there aren't really any better Chinese restaurants in Prague, seriously.More
