We just finished dinner at Filipa a Jakuba, and we are very pleased with our find. I almost don’t want to review it, because I don’t want it overrun by tourists since it seemed like such a neighborhood establishment. Two of us shared the pork...joint and ordered thyme and onion potatoes on the side. The meat was succulent and beautifully roasted, and it was more than the two of us could eat. The pork and potato pancakes and the pork roast ordered by our companions were equally as delicious. Drinks are inexpensive. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed watching rugby on the televisions as we dined. My only criticism would be the apple strudel . . . why put chocolate sauce on it? It was good enough to stand on its own. But all in all, it was a tasty Prague experience.More
We had a steak tartar and it was delicious! It was on Wed 7pm and glad we booked as the place was busy. My friend had a rack of ribs and looked delicious too! Would recommend to everybody who'd like to taste a proper Czech...cuisine.More
We ended up trying this place because it was close to our hotel. Itis not a touristy place and is facing a small park. We were not disappointed! Huge plates, delicious food, nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices. We can highly recommend this restaurant
After a day walking around tourist traps I was getting tired of Prague but this great pub/restaurant restores my faith in a big way.
We sat outdoors opposite a nice park across a quite street. It was a warm day and all tables were in...the shade.
The lady spoke English and offered us English menus. We had two mains - pork neck with garlic and pork steak in potato pancake. Both came out so huge and were excellent. Great quality meat, delicious and presented well.
Beers were good and fairly priced.
If I can get back here I definitely will.
I went here to try something new. I saw it reviewed by others and was interested to try something different that I saw on their menu, that most other restaurants here don't have. Even though there are parking spots nearby, most of Prague has blue...zone parking, which means you have to have a special permit, so don't drive. Anyway, you don't need to because there are tram and bus stops nearby, and it is in walking distance from the Novy Smichov Shopping Mall. Therefore getting there isn't a problem. The restaurant is situated in a small square, and you can seat yourself out front, inside, or in their back patio. The interior decor is that of typical Czech pubs, that kind of lodge feel to it.
After looking over the menu I picked fried mushrooms with fries. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. The food was well prepared and I enjoyed it. I felt that the taste was a little bland, but a dash of salt helped it. The waiter that tended to me was very attentive, and quick with my drink orders while I was there.
When I am in Prague I stay at a place not far from this restaurant, so I think I have another new place to frequent when I am there. I can recommend it, and their draft Pilsner Urquell beer. Enjoy.More
