When my husband and I arrived in Prague for our third visit together, we were expecting the usual heavy and boring Czech food. Staying in the touristy Old Town for the first time has provided us easy access to some very fine dining at affordable prices. What a surprise! At Pot au Feu we dined in lovely surroundings with gracious hosts/servers and the finest dining we have experienced in Prague, and there have been excellent others. We felt very welcome and the host accommodated our seating arrangement since my husband is hard of hearing. The back wine area is very cozy and comfortable. A cauliflower veloute amuse bouche started with excellent French bread to start. We chose the tuna tartare and pumpkin veloute next, both excellent. The piece de resistance came next, the house speciality of Anjou pigeon with truffles and truffle sauce with some vegetables. Quite an amazing dinner. We could not even find room for the crepes Suzettes which were on the dessert menu. Do not miss the small and fabulous restaurant if you like really fine dining and welcoming atmosphere.

Wow! What a wonderful place. The owner was so friendly and helpful as we hadn’t booked a table but he managed to put tables together for our party. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is a true delight. We’ve not eaten in a french restaurant before but the fantastic owner helped us with our menu choices and wine to match the food. What can I say but our meal was exquisite! The waitress who also looked after us was brilliant. I’m just sorry I didn’t get their names for a personal mention. The place was frequented by lots of French people so that says everything doesn’t it. Thank you for a great night.

Before leaving Prague, we looked for a nice restaurant for lunch. We found Pot au Feu. It was mid-week and off season but the welcome, food, wine and service was top class. The only regret is that we did not find the restaurant earlier as we would have liked to return for another meal. The location is a very short walk from Old Town Square so it is so easy to get there at any time and there is no excuse for missing a real treat!

Having experienced a great evening at this restaurant a few years ago, my partner was keen to come back to this place again. However, we were left bitterly disappointed on this occasion. Though the waiter was not unpleasant, we didn't feel particularly welcome. Even when we arrived, there was no one there to greet us when we entered and we stood waiting for a short while until the waiter appeared from an adjoining room. We were also quite surprised when the waiter came to take our order, and simply came to our table and said "What do you want?" in quite a transactional fashion. It's really not the service you expect at a fine dining restaurant. Onto the food, we received a little mushroom cappuccino amuse bouche, which was pleasant. For the starter, I had the Eggs 63 and my partner had the Tuna Tartare. The Eggs 63 had a nice flavour but was nothing special, and was completely overpriced at 495czk. It's worth mentioning that it is advertised on the website at 395czk, and was also advertised on the specials board as 595czk, so the pricing is clearly all over the place. For the main, we both had duck breast. We were asked how we wanted this cooked, and requested medium. As you can see from the picture, it arrived cooked rare. I queried this with the waiter, who told me the reason for this was that "this is how it's served in France for medium". Having lived in France, I assured him that this was not the case, and clearly, the meat was rare. He took the meat back to the kitchen and a few minutes later, the plates returned and it actually was quite tasty - though again completely overpriced at 695czk (I recently paid around the same price for a sublime magret de canard at one of the best restaurants in Bordeaux, for context). This item is also another which is listed at a different price on the website (595czk). I think one of the main issues with the restaurant is a lack of communication. The waiter could quite simply have informed us that they cook their duck rather rare for medium when we ordered. In such a place, and especially given the restaurant was empty, I would probably have expected the chef to come out and justify how the meat was cooked after we had said we weren't happy, if they felt it was indeed medium (though it clearly wasn't). For tourists, it's worth noting that the prices for the food here are expensive for Prague, and for that you would of course expect a fine dining experience with sublime food and fantastic service. This restaurant, unfortunately, falls short, and we have experienced better fine dining experiences here for around the same price and even cheaper too. Also note, the bathroom hand tap is extremely hot and the temperature would not change.

Not impressed at all. Yes, the starters were fun but mains were very very ordinary. Braised beef cheeks are not inventive, for example. Duck breast can be had in many an average restaurant and let's be honest, it's easy to cook at home. Eating out at this level - and this price - should be about quality and precision that is impossible to do yourself. Frankly, very little there was. Gloriously overpriced too. Even an average bottle of French Chablis was about £70. And that was by no means the most expensive bottle on the menu. I left feeling a little cheated because I had been led to believe it was brilliant. It isn't.

Had an excellent experience here, exceeding expectations. Very friendly service and fantastic, high quality food. Starters of poached eggs with mushrooms and a beautiful, refined bouillabaisse were followed by specials of chicken with tarragon and sublime pigeon breasts, with all of the accompanying parts perfectly cooked and presented. It was also a pleasure to speak with the chef after the meal. Highly recommended.

A fantastic surprise, perfect dishes after a few disappointments in Austria. We had the calf liver, and rib eye steak, both were tender tasty and melted in the mouth. So called "simple dishes" but real delicacies. The Chef Jan Kracik generates a real gastronomic experience that is very hard to match. We shall come back as soon as we can.

We wanted to try a French restaurant in Prague, which seemed promising from what was reported on specialized sites and guides, including the Michelin one. A very kind welcome, champagne and creams with croutons to await the first orders. Then a superb onion soup au gratin for my wife and a country terrine for me, followed by two bœuf bourguignon - accompanied by a good Bordeaux - and to conclude a choice of French cheeses, with Sauternes for me and an almond liqueur for my wife. The environment lives up to the quality of the dishes. And also the bill, commensurate with the level of the restaurant. Absolutely worth trying.

What a wonderful find in the Michelin guide, should have at least one star! The service impeccable from Jacob and the owner/chef Jan provided not only beautiful plates of food but all exquisitely tasty!! An intimate restaurant with many walls lined in great wines The Chassagne Montrachet we had was a beautiful example of a red burgundy delicious!! My wife said I had to mention the Japanese toilets they need to be experienced to be believed….honestly! If you’re in Prague and want a fantastic atmosphere and food this is the place!

A fantastic experience, if this restaurant was in London there would be a 3 month waiting list just to get a table. The food was sublime from the mushroom cappuccino to the rib eye to the tripe to the… Everything was faultless and a delight. Book before everyone discovers this gem- you won’t be disappointed.

Great French restaurant in Prague, food and wine was exceptional. With Prague being a hectic and sometimes touristy trap, this was a gem to find, in the old town, but on a quiet street. The menu was varied and everything cooked here that we had was delicious. For fine dining at reasonable prices, look no further. The wine list is also extensive. This wasn’t cheap mind, the wines come mainly from France, and are the same price you would pay in a good French restaurant at least. This was not a negative for me, but in Prague one gets used to looking at the drinks bill and wondering why so cheap (I come from Geneva..). Here, for some top end wines, I could have been back in Geneva, but there are many other tasty options for less. I would definitely go back if ever I am in Prague again, top of my list!

My husband and I loved everything about this restaurant which made the last night of our first trip to Prague very enjoyable. The wine list is extensive, the service is excellent and accommodating, and the food is worthy of at least one Michelin star. It’s been difficult to find good steaks in Europe, but according to my husband, he found it here! Be sure to make a reservation here if you are in Prague.

We rated this restaurant as a 5/5 - each dish was well prepared and delicious. Had duck confit and monkfish as entrees and both were excellent. Starters of escargots and pate. Amuse bouche cucumber soup that was delicious. Service and atmosphere were excellent.

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit whilst you are in Prague if you want a special meal. We went as a table of 3 couples and every course was perfect. The service was also spot on. There is also a great selection of wine and drinks to complement the amazing food. Such a lovely evening. We will certainly be back when we are next in Prague.

We booked this place last minute after seeing it in the Michelin guide and what a find! My wife and I just had a main and a bottle of wine. I had the beef cheeks and my wife had the chicken. Both dishes were outstanding. Very typical french food, executed to perfection. Our waiter was really lovely and even allowed us to take the half finished bottle of wine home with us. I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough :-)

Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
