Walking down Na Balidle in the Smichov District my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into U Bileho Lva ,been here before on previous holidays to Prague ,always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the...look of this pub ,the interior is superb ,great decor and furnishings ,a cool looking serving bar and lots of seating both inside and when the weather is good outside looking out onto the busy and bustling District 5 streets. We ordered beers from Straropramen Brewery ,these were served in tip top condition ,we chilled out and took in the great pub we wrote in. A big fan of this famous beer ,a golden lager style beer ,hoppy ,bursting with taste and served with the big foamy head so beloved by the Czech's,it was just so good enjoying a refreshing beer sat with my twin brother Ste ,best beer companion in the world. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. U Bileho Lva is easy to locate along Na Belidle . Opening hours are; Monday to Saturday, open from 11am. Sunday, open from 11.30am. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.More

Tucked away down one of the back streets of the Smichov District ( Praha 5 ) is U Bileho Lva ,a great locals pub I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to this wonderful Bohemian city. I love the look of...this pub,the interior is superb,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout the pub both inside and when the weather is good outside on their terrace,it's just a good, old fashioned pub,the type of pub I love. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a cold Friday night but this pub was toasty warm,we ordered a becherovka each ,these arrived in no time at all ,we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. This along with Czech beer is the drink I most associate with the Czech Republic ,a strong Czech liqueur made from herbs and spices,it has a very distinctive taste ,ginger or cinnamon flavours proliferate and it's strong, about 38%ABV, it's a great drink to savour,it was great being in a pub such as U Bileho Lva enjoying a quality drink. We really enjoyed our becherovka's in here ,we only stayed for the one each before we moved on and as on all previous visits to this locals pub we had a great time. U Bileho Lva us easy to locate down Na Belidle,a street and area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday,11am till 11.30pm. Saturday,11am till 1am. Sunday,11.30am till 11pm. A wonderful, traditional pub that's a must go destination if you're in the Smichov District.More

U Bílého Lva on Na Bělìdle is a superb pub that offers an excellent food menu and an excellent range of beers. This is a fantastic pub that date's from 1889 and is one of the most traditional pubs in Prague. The interior is superb with...many interesting fixtures and features and fantastic seating options throughout the whole pubs interior and super friendly staff. We had visited many pubs around this part of Smíchov but U Bílého Lva was one of the best pubs we visited as there was a superb atmosphere in here.It was very busy on our visit but we didnt have a problem in finding a table. When here we had a Becherovka a local Czech spirit and a couple of pint's of beer which were perfectly served and well priced. This is a great pub and is well worth visiting and so easy to get to from the Anděl metro and tram stop its a minutes walk.(This is my first review of U Bílého Lva). Opening Hours. We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday evening and were able to get a table; we chose this place as it was very close to our apartment. It has a very traditional feel about it and we appeared to be the only tourists in...there. The staff were friendly and we were served quickly. We chose a bottle of Czech white wine which was very pleasant. We had one wild boar ragout and one pork tenderloin. The ragout was perfectly acceptable but the tenderloin was perfect, highly recommended. They had no Czech red wine so we had a glass of Italian which was fine. The bill was very reasonable.More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our driver from the airport and we liked it so much that we ate there 3 times (out of a 7 day stay). My husband had the Svickova, pork schnitzel and the ribs. I had the goulash and...pork schnitzel twice. I really wanted to try pork tenderloin, but they were out of it the 2 nights I tried to order it. The food and service were both great. The beer was wonderful as well. The prices were reasonable. I would definitely go back to this restaurant the next time we are in Prague.More

This place was a hidden gem, there were not a lot of tourists but locals were enjoying their beer around 16 'o clock. Food was good, and service was friendly enough for tourists. Compere to other tourists places, the price was reasonable and we were...quite happy to get there. Some people wrote that if you could not speak English well, service could be a bad, but for us this restaurant was very good choice! We did avoid the tourist traps and I recommend you to do so too!More

It was a warm day in June, pleasant out on the street but it was stinking hot inside. The place has an old timber look, service was spot on. As soon as my glass was empty I was asked if I wanted more. Food was...good without being exceptional. Price was ok. Beers were definitely cold and I guess I have to get used to the head. Overall this isn’t a bad pub for dinner but I’m not sure I’d go out if my way.More

The Smichov neighbourhood is a cool area to visit in Prague, much more grittier than the more touristic districts of Prague such as Staroměstské Námestie or Mala Strana district, your getting much more of a locals experience, meals are better here, beers colder and prices lower,...it's such a cool district and pubs such as U Bileho Lva are the type of pubs thou will find here. The pub itself is superb, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and when the weather is good outside looking out onto the busy and bustling street this pub is found on. We were here on a Sunday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere ,greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff who served us a beer each, we opted to have Staropramen beer, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and as is the traditional in Prague with a big foamy head, we just chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. I really enjoy Staropramen beer, it's a light, hoppy brew, very refreshing and very easy to drink indeed, a beer style I really enjoy, in the Smichov district you know the Staropramen beer is going to be fresh as the huge Staropramen Brewery is housed in this district. We really enjoyed our beers in here and although we only stayed for the one each before we moved on as on every other visit to here we had a great time. U Bileho Lva is so easy to locate, you can jump tram number 4.5.7.12.20.21.94.99. to stop Andél were you walk down a street called Na Bélidle were you will find this pub. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, Open from 11am. Saturday & Sunday, Open from 11.30am. A great pub in a great are and well worth checking out .More

Visited here on our first night in Prague as it was literally up the street and looked good. We got a table but not probably one we would have chosen. We were told the others were reserved and they did all have signs on them...but the place was only a third full at most?? Anyway the beers arrived swiftly (including the usual inch and half of froth that seems endemic in Prague?!?!) and we ordered burgers. They arrived and looked great (see pic) and I realise this might be the norm in Prague but they were almost rare! A good vet could have got my burger walking round a field again!!! We are what we could, paid and went for a wander. We came past over an hour later and virtually all the tables with reserved signs on were still empty?!?!? OK and nice staff and punters but.......More

Ate lunch here, very warm and welcoming atmosphere, the beer is fairly priced and delicious, food traditional and tasty. Nicer that the average hospoda, food prices reflective of this but again, very fair. The whole experience was faultless. Highly recommended.

Heard a lot of good things about this place. Didn't want a meal as I had already eaten, so stopped by for a couple of beers. The beer was Staropramen, which I like, but for the price, I have had better beer in Smichov. The...girl charged me 100 crowns for two beers, which is damned expensive. I prefer the "Buldoka" 5 minutes walk around the corner.More
