Even on Independent Czechoslovak State Day (Den vzniku samostatného československého státu) these guys were open. A lot of the more "touristy" areas are and I can only imagine this was open because of the proximity to the Gehry Dancing House, almost within eyesight of this...place. It's a small place, and thankfully was not crowded just before 18:00. Seemed like mostly Czech people; the locals were getting a bit loaded but really just enjoying themselves on the holiday. Had to have the goulash before leaving Prague. To be honest, I'm not sure that I've ever had it... Certainly not in Prague, so I have nothing to compare it to. Basically a really rich and thick beef stew without the stuff that Americans add in. Price was good.More

We really enjoyed our meal here, it felt like very traditional Czech cooking. Generous portions. Stupidly good value compared to the centre and we liked the ambience - a lot nicer inside that it looks from the outside, we were in a ‘back room’.

We finished our guided tour close to this place, which I already had noted down. We have a baby, and the people in the restaurant gave us as many facilities as possible to make our time there awesome. The food was great, and the portions...were generous. We had goulash, duck (recommended) and some other Czech food. Price was good. We went out from this place really happy, and I will recommend it to whoever asks for a place to eat in the new town. Thank for for everything, I do mean it.More

It was the best experience visiting this place and trying local cuisine!! Very affordable prices. We ordered a cold dark beer which was so good we just drank in one gulp! The food was incredibly delicious: the tastiest gulash, garlic soup, camamber, and sauerkraut with...cumin - just freaking good!! We enjoyed the atmosphere of pub, friendly stuff and perfect service! Absolutely recommended and must visit place in Prague!More

Located along Naplavni is U Matejicku ,an authentic and traditional pub that's always a joy to visit. I love the look of this pub ,the interior is superb ,typical Czech decor and furnishings ,a solid wood serving bar and plenty of seating options,it's just a...great pub to unwind in. We were here on a Thursday early evening ,as we had just ate we were only here for beers ,we chose beers from Pilsner Urquell Brewery, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and with the distinctive foamy head so beloved of the Czech's,we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. My beer was really good ,a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink ,it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality beer . We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. U Matejicku is easy to locate along Naplavni in the New Town. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,11am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.More

Visited with my Wife and 2 year old. Food was ok but my starter didn't arrive. There was NO Covid pass check. I had ordered the soup, the waiter told me directly I hadn't ordered it but that is would come in a couple of...minutes which it did. The waitress came by twice when my Son was talking and told him to shush. He isn't the quietest but he is a child of 2 years with an adhd condition so it is hard for him to sit still and quiet for any length of time. The bill came with the "tips not included", maybe they think British are stupid and think tips are included or don't give tips for good service. When leaving (after giving giving a reasonable tip) the male waiter complained about the state of the table., he said you can,'t leave the table like that. I think it was an overreaction. There was some onion on it (from my 2 year old), the many coasters (why so many) were not neatly stacked and a small menu cards had been folded. My Wife said he is only a child and some children have a health condition and he replied he has 4 children. Well, lucky and bravo him for maybe able to grow up perfect children ...maybe he could have given us some tips! Fortunately I do have some positive and friendly examples of Czech hospitality from other restaurants, I will never return to this one.More

Down to earth place, beer good as usual around there. Ordered from the traditional menu items, was not dissapointed, no fancy gimmicks, but flavourfull dishes. Server was alone, but yet was very attending to the guests.
