My twin brother Stephen and I were wandering around the New Town when we decided to drop into U Novaka,a pub we always look forward to visiting on any trip to Prague we take. I love the look of this pub,a light and airy interior,an...eye catching serving bar, great decor and furnishings,tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub ,it's just a great pub to unwind in . We were here on a Friday early afternoon,we ordered beers from Pilsner Urquell Brewery ( Gambrinus beer ) these beers were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and with the distinctive foamy head so beloved by the Czech's we just kicked back and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My beer was really good ,a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer that on a really hot afternoon certainly cut through the thirst. We both enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit go here we had a great time. U Novaka is easy to locate along Pstrossova . Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,11am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.More

Typical Czech cuisine for a very good prize located almost in the very city center. They serve half a liter of beer for 30 Crowns (1.2€!) and many typical dishes such as duck or pork for under 200 Crowns (8€). The food was good in...quality and quantity. The place was rather empty except for a few locals. I would recommend it for a typical Czech lunchMore

Visited this place as a couple last week - we were rudely and aggressively sat by the door in the cold, being told the place was fully booked (it was empty). The staff then proceeded to clear the tables down. The menu is awful anyway,...but we ordered two glasses of wine for a quick drink. The staff, one waiter and the guy behind the bar were both extremely hostile and very intimidating. When we left we went to the bar opposite, and the waiter actually gave me the finger through the window when he saw me take a photo of the place. DO NOT GO HERE, EXTREMELY POOR AND HOSTILE.More

I came here with friends for a beer but the waiter was super rude and unfriendly. The place was almost free but he was complaining that we are late with the choice (we were ordering beer only) - he didn’t even give us 5 seconds-to...decide and then just left.More

Strolled in, with my wife. Decided to have lunch and quench our thirst. This bar/restaurant is truly a place to visit. Off the tourist trap areas and it provides good food and beer at a good price, the geunine article. We visited again a few...days later for evening meal, did not disappoint. An unpretensious true taste of Czech food and beer, I recommend it.More

Away from the bustling hordes of tourists is this little gem of a bar and restaurant. The beer is cheap, the food is hearty and good…you will mostly see locals here rather than tourists. The bartender/waitress Dominika ha d the most amazing smile and friendly...personality…there were times when we went here just to see her…it seems a very traditional establishment, but these people know how to have a good time!!!More

This was in Rick Steves' Prague pocket book and it turned out to be just what we wanted. I wanted an authentic Czech meal of red and white cabbage, flour dumplings and pork and good beer and I scored! It's a bit to the south,...but afterwards walk to the river and south a few blocks and you'll be treated to Frank Gehry's wonderful Dancing House.More

Tired of all the horrible tourist trap restaurants? Get away from the center of town and come here for dark beer and lunch. Great chicken breast plate, and amazing pork. Real Czech food, friendly and locals. Enjoy!

I found this place on my first day in Prague. I just wandered the streets and came upon it. The atmosphere was that of a typical pub, and they had an English menu and waitstaff who also spoke English. Prices were very reasonable and the...food was quite tasty. I went twice for dinner but it was never crowded. A nice, quiet, reasonably priced alternative to the rather expensive and touristy restaurants found elsewhere. It was a great find, and I recommend it to anyone visiting Prague.More

Great little traditional pub, full of locals and great Dark Beer. The service is excellent and the food is very good and very reasonable. We loved the whole package here, we were made to feel very welcome and each time we went we were greeted...as friends. THIS PLACE GETS JUST AS BUSY ON A LUNCHTIME AS IT DOES IN THE EVENING So be warned, you may have to wait for a table during busy times but if a place is that popular, it's for a good reason !More

The location is good. Service is ok. I ordered a beef gulash there, the price was middle (150czk) and it was really small portion and not tasty al all! Meat was dry, bread has no taste....I didn't like it. After all they didn't take a...credit card!More

Came here for some lunch as only round the corner from our apartment. Sat down and the friendly waiter came and we ordered some drinks, realising we are English he then brought us the english menus over after bringing the beer. Food came and it...was lovely, waiter checked several times if we wanted more drinks etc and the food came fairly quickly. I would eat here again if i visited Prague again as we enjoyed the food and the service was great!More

I understand that sometimes you can have bad day but try not to show it. We were group of 8 (2 families) and wanted to sit near each other. We asked if we can join tables but waiter declined our proposal very nervously. He was...really rude and on the end we all agried to leave before we even sit. Restaurant looks great and I'm really not happy that I didn't try their food...More

Looking for a pricewise ok pub with good beer&food led me to the TV-series known pub and restaurant "u nováka", near the national theater. Wide choice of food, but not the too traditional style and now the switch to Plzen brewery with cask beer.
