We came here as heard good reviews and that it was a cheaper restaurant. After trying for hours to get a reservation, it seems nobody answers the phone in this place we chanced it and walked in.
The bar was heaving and we were slightly confused as what to do, we asked a waitress and she told us to write our names on a waiting list and wait. We were seated very quickly as we stood by the bar but I have a feeling not everyone is so lucky as the people who arrived after us were seated first until I questioned the waiter. We never saw them use the list.
The food was tasty especially the fried cheese, we had starters, mains and a dessert for 2 plus a drink each all for around 1000CZK. We thought this was great!
Place was loud and we were seated with others but this wasn’t a problem for us. Enjoyed our meal very much.

There’s nothing really wrong here, except it can get really noisy, the waitress was efficient, food comes out quickly, nothing wrong with the meal here. Not really cheap but coming in for the unique atmosphere of a beer hall and meeting fellow happy patrons having a good time was enjoyable. The beer was great. There are more inspiring options for food in Prague that are better value though.

Excellent! Was here with my girlfriend for the holidays and we were both well satisfied. The waiter was super polite and spoke great English, the meals were super tasty but affordable(mostly traditional czech cuisine) and they served them fast.
They also have gallons of Pilsner Urquel for next to nothing ;)
A "must eat" destination in Prague!!!!

I was disappointed with the type of service this restaurant has got. There was a wait when we went which is understandable
therefore we had to write our names down to be seated but no one was guiding us or telling us clearer where to go or wait. Food took a while to come when it wasn't a meal that should take 30 minutes to be cooked. Other people came after us and their food was brought out the same time as ours. We followed other people's reviews that this place was top rated but we wouldn't go there again.

The staff are very helpful in recommending what is good. We had the goulash soup which was delicious and very good value along with the fried cheese which was good but perhaps a little over-rated as found it a bit rubbery in texture. Overall though a great place to visit for some local cuisine.

Our review is a bit of a contradiction because we didn't really like the fact that it is only visited by tourists and very impersonal but came away so impressed by how they process such a large number of people and deliver food which surprisingly was very good. The place is like a very (very) long tunnel, no deco, with tables either side. You will need to book if you want to eat during the normal lunch and dinner times and don't be late. You can linger but there is no atmosphere, it's all about getting you served and out. The food comes very quick, it's a small menu, but it tasted very good. The beer also was very nice. So left having our prejudices proved wrong.

We came to Lokal for lunch. The place is really big and makes you think about a "school cafeteria". The service was average, not really good but not bad either. The food was very typical but the main dishes were very small for what you pay for, the prices are way too high for what you get, compared to other places in Prague. One nice thing though was that the side dishes are "all you can eat", which can full you... We also tried the caramel profiterole dessert, which I totally recommend! I would probably come back but only for the side dishes and the desserts.

On the 12th of October we went eating at Lokal Douhla. We ordered two simple dishes (schnitzel & porc medaillons), half a liter of beer and a glas of white Riesling wine. Besides that we asked for a bottle of ordinary water from the crane which is for free in almost any restaurant. We not only discovered that the quality of the food was quite mediocre, in fact it wasn’t even worth the 10 euro’s per person we had to pay. But now comes the most incredible part. The waitress charged us 79 czech krones (3,20 euro) for the simple and ordinary bottle of water from the crane, two times as expensive as the price for a small Italian bottle of mineral water in other Prague restaurants. When I criticized her she acted as if she did not understood what I meant. Also for the Riesling she made u pay 20 Krones extra above the price mentioned on the card. She said this was because she gave u 0,2 ltr Riesling instead of 0.15 ltr which was a lie
My advise: don’t go to cheap restaurants like Lokal because in the end you pay more than is neccesary because they swindle and make you pay for an ordinary botte of water from the crane and the wine. So eventually Lokal is much more expensive than you thought.

I have visited Lokal twice during my stay in Prague, I will come back without a doubt the next time I am in Prague again.
Service wat brilliant, friendly, visibly enjoying their work and very service minded.
When ordering Goulash, I was told (when the food was served) it was all you can eat. If I wanted more I just had to say so. This was a positive surprise, as I had not been informed before the visit/when ordering.
Portions just good and the quality is amazing.
Meals:
Goulash with bread dumplings
Fried aged cheese with spinach

A super traditional beer hall that is packed with locals and tourists alike. On weekends it’s so busy you’ll need to reserve a table. It’s quieter on weekday nights though this may not be the case in summer.
Serving up all of your Czech favourites, Lokál is considered Prague’s longest beer hall. It’s big, the foods tasty, surprisingly so for a beer hall and not to mention the super-fresh tanked beer.
Lokál is far enough away from the old town square to keep the prices cheap but only a 5 minute walk down Dlouhá street keeping you close to all the action. You’ll be able to get a ‘tankova pivô’ for just 52kc. Worth the visit alone if you ask me and meals can set you back for as little as twice this price.

Cheap beer and nice traditional Czech food. We shared a couple of bread dumplings, goulash, fried cheese (which is AMAZING!!), buttery potatoes and black pudding. All really tasty and the total bill was really cheap about £40 for three of us (including 3 beers each).

I went here, after recommendations from Honest guide, but really I was either expecting this to be cheap place locals went to get a lunch, but the lunch really wasnt the cheap at all, which would be totally okay if the food was any good.
I was simple cafeteria food. and you could feel it was a place that was aiming to gets turist. The waiter was super nice, and the staff in general, very friendly and smiling.
We were told by the waiter, he we sell the best beer in prague, but really it was just a standard commercial beer, they have anywhere.

The main entrance looked like a small drinking pub. When you walk right inside, it has a long passage hall with tables and an authentic beer counter exposing the beer barrel below the counter. Food may look simple in presentation but they were really tasty and came in large servings. I've ordered the pork (100g) with potato dumplings and a side dish of spinach. Gosh! It was a hearty meal. Simply delicious. Although, the place was very crowded and busy, the lady who served me was very friendly and always with a smile. I will return again if I ever return to Prague.

Don’t waste your time. I used to like this place, but it obviously has gone way downhill. I stopped by in the mid afternoon as a solo traveler, and they wouldn’t even consider seating me because I did not have a group of four people. It’s a pub! How can they not allow a single person to sit and eat, despite the fact that half the tables were empty? The cherry on top of this lovely experience was the fact that the staff was rude and inconsiderate. I will never go back.

If you want to try the original Czech cuisine avoiding tourist traps and expensive prices, this is the place to go. The waiters speak excellent English, the menu changes every day and the quality is extraordinary. The price is good too!
