A packed beer hall. Bookings recommended, but you can queue. Lots of locals, with a good helping of tourists too. Traditional stolid Czech food and good Pilsner at 62czk for a very foamy 1/2L glass. I chose the roast beef, which was a mistake as...it turned out to be just a rather boring plate of cold, thinly sliced roast beef. The only veggie option was the typical chunk of bread-crumbed fried cheese. A Vetrnik Mysak (89czk) to follow was the culinary highlight. Unexceptional food, but a fun place to visit.More

My wife had a tripe soup starter and I had a pork crackling spread. For mains she had the beef brisket with spinach and garlic. Recommend the steak tartare, which is what I had. We shared a traditional Czech biscuit with cream. All in all,...a good meal at a reasonable price. A pleasant experience.More

My husband and had lunch yesterday at Lokal after getting a recommendation from a tour guide and they where so right. The food was delicious and great value. We both had beef in pepper with potato dumplings and it was amazing. Good pilsner and raspberry...soda too.More

We visited here every day we stayed in Prague. You get a different experience at every visit whether that be lunch or dinner or just drinks. Our first visit was late evening and we couldnt get a seat as the place was chocka full. We...stayed for beers only. The following day we stopped for drinks (lunchtime) and got seats. The next day we stopped for food and drinks and sampled some of the local sausage dishes. These were cheap as anything and the beer was always topped up as a pint for us but we did see some pints being served as a quarter of a pint full of froth....being english I'd have sent that back lol. Toilets are certainly an adventure. Clean though which is most important. The place reminded me of an English Weatherspoons. Cheap and cheerful.More

Really great local food and reasonable prices. Nice to eat in a place that ordinary locals use also. The service was pretty good too.

In a somewhat unprepossessing room, this restaurant offers fantastic value good food (if limited in range) along with very good beer. It has many of the qualities of a German beerhall. If you like traditional Czech or middle European food this is an excellent place...to go. But make sure you book in advance - it is very popular (for good reasons).More

This is a restaurant where the service, the food , the ambiance, have aligned and is at the top of its game. Excellent service, simple food beautifully cooked, and of course in Prague excellent beer. Huge credit to all the staff who run this magnificent...place, and in turn give immense pleasure to its customers.More

Maybe a 10 minutes walk from the Old Town Square, but definitely worth the detour! The place is full of local life, not just tourists, and a good place to eat good food at cheap prices. The fried cheese was delicious. We had a beer...while we waited for a table to open, but the place was so high that we didn't have to wait long to be seated.More

I hadn’t reserved a table and when I arrived I had to put my name on a waiting list. I stood at the bar and had a beer - after a few minutes I was shown to a table. Quality and Quantity of food was...excellent and really inexpensive. Service was quick, staff were super friendly! Great experience ‘local food, with local people in a Lokál restaurant’!!More

A must visit. Local cuisine, fabulous Czech beer. I learned about Lokal from YouTube food blogger Who very famous all over the world - Mark Wien's. I'm a solo traveller and didn't book, it was lunch time, I was well received and looked after from...the moment I walked through the door. The gentleman behind the bar was so polite and friendly, as a solo traveller I instantly felt safe welcome. I think his name is Jon. I particularly wanted to try the milk beer which apparently is traditionally drank 'down in one ' I orded the pork, dumpling and cabbage Fromm the menu, which changes daily. The menu also states that you have more gravy and dumplings and much as you can eat! Fabulous I did have more gravy. I orded a Czech beer and a milk beer for the sake of the recommended experience!!! Thankfully the lovely bar man Jon came to advise me possible start with a small milk beer, for which I was truly grateful. I could not drink the small beer down in one, it took two for me, but it was a fun experience. To be clear this beer isn't anything to do with milk apart from the fact that it looks like a pint of milk, because it's 98 froth. Czech beer is gorgeous, this was a fun experience with lovely good. I'm definitely going back. I hope my sincere thanks get back to Jon for his advice and lovely attentive service and Elen too. Thank you so very much, I had a lovely holiday and I am coming back next week, with a family member I look forward to seeing you at Lokal.More

I can not say about the food in this place because we did not taste it. But I can say one thing for sure, the lady in the bar was extremely rude with the tourists. We went and asked for a table for two and...she made a grimace and said something in Czech. After that she said that there was a waiting list for the tables and did not say anything about where we should wait or anything helpful about the waiting. From me it’s a noMore

We were recommended to visit here, as well as other ‘lokal’ restaurants in Prague. The restaurant is huge, and very rustic. There is little comfort and the atmosphere is like a Bavarian beer hall, but trust me, the welcoming staff, and incredible beer and food...will make it worthwhile. I would have liked to have visited again, as they change the menu daily, but it was so popular we couldn’t get in! Best Czech food we had, and beer was awesome- £2.18 for 0.5l!More

We were staying in Old Town and had searched for nearby places to get authentic local Czech food. We tried on a Saturday night but the queue was out the door so we went back on Sunday afternoon and managed to get a table this...time. The restaurant is large and has a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and our orders were promptly placed within a few minutes of arriving. We tried the chicken breast main course and the roast duck and both meals were delicious. Very reasonably priced too. On the Sunday menu you could order unlimited amounts of the sides like the cabbage, dumplings etc but we didn't need to as the original portions were very generous. Overall, if you're looking for authentic local food in the heart of Old Town Prague then give this place a try!More
