My daughter and I have just returned from a four day break to Prague. Upon arrival at our hotel we Googled a local restaurant to try as we didn't get to the hotel until 20.00.
We found Nato Bene, which was only a few minute...walk. First impressions were excellent, it's my type of restaurant. Small, unassuming with tables that aren't too close together. We were warmly greeted and shown to a table. There are two menu options, a tasting menu and the a la carte option. We decided to do the a la carte, the menu only had a handful of starters, mains and desserts to choose from, which once again is another thing I love.
After we ordered our food we were pleasantly surprised to be offered a whipped cheese amuse bouche. I decided to go for a starter and main, my daughter had a main then dessert. I had the pickled fish with kohlrabi and dill to start and duck breast with beetroot puree, potato dauphinoise, wild asparagus and jus. My daughter had confit beef with mashed potato for main and the lemon tarte to finish.
My starter was very nice, for me though just a touch too much dill. As for my duck, simply put, we ate out on four evenings including a Michelin starred restaurant and the duck I had at Nato Bene was my favourite dish of the stay, it was fantastic. The lemon tarte was also glorious, especially the pastry which was as good as it gets.
Don't get me wrong, Field (the Michelin starred restaurant) was better but the duck was so well cooked. If you're planning on visiting Prague try Nato Bene, you won't be disappointed. The total cost of our meal including several beers for me and cocktails for my daughter was roughly £60.00, incredible value.More
