Off the beaten path and very close to St. Nicholas Cathedral in Mala Strana, U Hrocha was a memorable visit. I got a great beer and an excellent fresh kielbasa sausage with creamed horseradish and a basket of bread. The sausage was crispy and finely ground, the bread was very good. The best part was watching pub life in Prague,... More

We did visit Prague last year and we wlwere really surprised. Whole atmosphere was really spectacular. We do like authentic places with unique feeling. We've got a tip for few pubs restaurants. One was/is place called "U Hrocha" o4 near by hipopotamus... Bloody hell authentic place. Mainly local people, really thirsty. Beer is excellent, like homemade strong alcohol was extra... More

We just happened to find this place using google. Small pub with lots of locals. First day, we found many old men just drinking beer. Felt a bit out of place at first, but soon, felt very comfortable. A few big tables and we share. We all sat together and eventually started having conversations. GREAT beer. I am not a... More

Sometimes busy, sometime smokey by the beer is always top notch. If it looks like there is nowhere to sit, squeeze on the end of a bench and make friends with the rest of the table. I've had so many great times in this pub.

We stopped in here for a drink and a small bite to eat and it didn't disappoint. It was busy but service was fast and we were very satisfied and pleased we had stopped by.

By far the best bar in Prague for quiet quality beer and food! I travelled on my own and was made to feel welcome and had great time out from tourist life. Recommend the sausage excellent

My girl and I fell in love with this place three years ago. Since then, we visit here at least once when we're in Prague. Best Urquell outside of Plzen (and I'm worrying a master brewer here), and the food's awesome! If you can't handle sitting with other people at the table and striking up a conversation, this place ain't... More

Originally, I wrote a very lengthy description of the U Hrocha, waxing nostalgic about a bar I used to occasion in my younger years. But that was more about me, then what you really want to know. The bottom line is, if you are a tourist, most likely, you will not want to spend any time in this place, if... More

It's a Pub in a small street near the Prague Castle, not so many tables and seats, but you can join others. Truly Czech atmosphere and a great food.

Staying in Hradcany & Letna

Neighborhood Profile
Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.
