Tucked away down a flight of stairs off Lorenskáyá street in Prague, not too far from Prague Castle, you will find a small gem of a restaurant called hOST. By day you will have a view of the city and by night see the lights of the city including the many illuminated churches. The restaurant is intimate so reservations are recommended. The food and service were both first class, with creative accompaniments to the main items. Between us we had foie gras, salmon, and duck breast. All were prepared well with interesting accompaniments adding both flavour and texture. The service was attentive, friendly, and in English (we speak no Czech), and the prices reasonable. All in all highly recommended and well-worth seeking out.

One of the most tasty dinners in Prague. Sadly the menu doesn't offer many choices - there are just two desserts and in the evening we ate there only one was available. The waiter was nice but too slow even if we were just 7 in the whole restaurant, maybe disorganized?

Dear Ms Monticelli, It is sad to read your review, the menu is limited because it is changed every few months. like all our food, freshness is vitally important to us. sorry that we ran out of one dessert. we have completely new staff now, there are fast and efficient.

The restaurant is not easy to find, hidden in a small alley with stairs down which lead to it. It is however worth all the work to get to it. The menu is not extensive but the quality is high. We were here with our kids, age 9 and 11 and everyone found something to their fancy. I had grill octopus and it was cooked to perfection which is quite difficult since it is easily overcooked and become rubbery. The kitchen most likely makes everything from scratch and knows each ingredient used so we didn't have any problems with food allergies. Service was good and the waitress offered to take family pictures for us volunteerily, which is highly appreciated. We had a wonderful lunch here. Highly recommend a visit here. And we will definitely come back here again whenever we are in Prague.

In a good position between the castle and the convent of Loreta. The positive note is that it makes special dishes: if you are tired of the usual Czech meat-based food and want something alternative but good, this could be an option. The gnocchi with mushroom sauce I ate were good and the prices proportional to the quality but not excessive. But now we come to the two sore points: the first is that outside they advertise an internal terrace with a magnificent view which doesn't really exist (it's a nice modern place, rather small, but there is no view) and the second is the service; not only does the waiter not speak English, but he doesn't make an effort to understand even with the photos of the dishes on his cell phone to understand what the proposals are. It gives up with extreme difficulty only when it is indicated on the menu so arm yourself with patience.

Walking down Loretanska my twin brother and I walked down this very narrow and quite steep alleyway and chanced upon Host Restaurant and what a great find. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, a light and airy interior, wonderful decor and furnishings, an eye catching serving bar dominates the main room and there's plenty of seating options. We were greeted and seated, we ordered beers, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and with the distinctive foamy head so characteristic of the way Czech beer is poured, for our meals we chose roast duck and potatoes, absolutely amazing, so wonderfully cooked and service and presentation top notch ,loved our meals and our beers plus the great attentive staff ,so happy we found this restaurant, a hidden gem in the Hradcany District. Host Restaurant is quite easy to locate, walk down Loretanska and when you see a narrow alleyway walk down that ,restaurant will appear . Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 11am. Well worth checking out if you're in the Castle District.

This was a very odd restaurant. The good points were the food which was of a high standard, and the view, which is fabulous. However, these things cannot make up for the negatives: the one and only waiter, who I can only assume was a work experience boy; I would blame the language barrier, but the party next to us spoke Czech and fared no better. There was no wine list and no ambience. I can only recommend that the excellent chef finds himself some new staff, or a new restaurant.

Chef Saravanan Kandadu’s small but mighty menu is full of incredible flavor combinations. We went there twice, and enjoyed duck with plums, guinea hen, arctic char and an excellent steak. A great place for a quiet dinner with a view at Prague Castle. The food is the star here - wine and cocktail options are minimal, and I think there were two people running the show, including chef. Be prepared to be patient with the service, but if you go with that in mind it’s a lovely evening of excellent food. They have vegetarian options, too.

It was quiet at dinner tonight me. We enjoyed excellent food in a quiet atmosphere with soothing background music You have an amazing view over Prague towards the Old town and the TV tower. The food boost your different taste buds and certainly it makes you want to eat here again an other time. Enjoy!

We arrived at this place after reading the reviews in a famous paper guide, the place is in a hidden but well signposted alleyway with stairs, the interior has slightly dark furnishings but the view of the city is spectacular, we went to lunch, certainly in the evening the atmosphere is more suggestive. The staff welcomed us with friendliness and friendliness, both the manager and the waitresses. The dishes are varied, suitable for all needs, we went there twice and always enjoyed it, the gnocchi with mushrooms are delicious. Average prices and quantities

I have been visiting Prague on business for ten years and experience has made my food expectations generally low. This has been recently changing, and The Host was a really pleasant surprise. If you really care about your food, this is the real deal. I went two days in a row, and that is really weird.

Lunch consisting of fresh dishes made brilliantly…. Smiling and professional service. Beautiful open terrace room with a view of Prague and the Petrin hill. Recommended when you want to have a proper lunch during a visit to the Chateau and avoid “tourist trap” restaurants.

Really good food at a really affordable price. The service is friendly and down to earth. Music was a little loud but I came a little early. Definitely a place I can recommend in a wasteland of tourist traps.

We stood in the small side alley in front of the empty restaurant and thought... is usually not the best sign 🤷🏻‍♂️ Get inside! Super delicious, my wife's duck absolutely awesome in taste, my steak a bit tough in part, but just really good in taste! Also the side dishes with eggplant cream (steak) or baked plum (duck) just good! Plus the view over Prague for dinner and a very friendly service complete the whole thing!

Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.
