Growing up in the Chicago area my Grandmother who emmigrated from what would become the Czech Republic would take us to the Czech House for a special Sunday dinner. My lunch at Restaurant U Ciriny brought back memories; I had the "Slowly roasted duck with potato and celery puree and plum sauce"...it was wonderful. The restaurant is a quaint family... More

Very cosy, comfortable restaurant near Charles Square. We loved the beef stroganoff and duck risotto. Very fairly priced and good service.

A lucky find off the beaten track close to Wenceslas Square. We enjoyed the quiet cosy atmosphere and the traditional menu so much we went back for a second dinner. The food was very good and excellent value. Thankfully it was one of those little gems that remains a secret!

Although highly recommended, I wouldn't give this place a second chance. After entering in the restaurant we were "welcomed" by the waitor, who showed us in the smoking area in which it was impossible to breath and eat. The waitor didn't even mention whether there is a non smoking section. The ambiance with was really not good and I wouldn't... More

Helping my friend from Canada on his European tours, I found this cosy place. Menu and reviews were great. Fact that this lady used to cook four the president, was rather intriquing :-) We went for my friends Birthday and it was a 'WIN WIN' situation. Food was mouth watering and the struddel was the best I have tasted to... More

Stopped for Lunch at this small but traditional restaurant tucked away not far from Wenceslas Square. Good selection of Czech food with excellent service. Interesting choice of 1960's music in the background which gave it a surreal feeling. I had chicken breasts with Pickled Cucumber, mash and a glass of house white. All good and very relaxed and less than... More

Family meal at this cosy little restaurant. We had booked ahead, which helped. Service - excellent - one friendly waitress running the place yet very short waiting times for all service.. Atmosphere - very cosy mix of locals and tourists. Food - excellent. Beer and wine - excellent. Highlights - Pork in mushroom sauce, All desserts! Highly recommend

This quiet restaurant has a nice little terrace, away from the crowded streets, and serves very good typical local food at a small price.

Neighborhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
