Small window in the constrution and service open to the street JEseniova, there You can find an Strudel Paradise with choise of 3-4 kinds of this sweet cake (Strudel), we recommend the plum or creamy cheese version...
We first saw these strudels featured on Samantha Brown's TV show and I told myself if I ever visit Prague I need to stop and get one. On our way out of Prague we stopped by to pick some strudel up for our long drive...down to Austria. They have three flavors available, Jablečný (Apple), Tvarohový (Cheese), and Makový (Poppyseed) are are cheap enough at 50CZK a piece that we decided to order one of each flavor. I wish I had pictures of these Strudels, but since I was driving and eating I couldn't take pictures of them, but they are huge especially for the price and they are DELICIOUS!!!
Do yourself a favor and if you have a chance, try and make your way out to this hidden gem before leaving Prague.More
We lived not to far from this place (just about 2,5 km) and one morning I went there on foot. I guess I was one of the first customers that morning. I bought two strudels and went back home. Strudels were hot and not small...at all :) and smelled delicious.
It should be noted that in the guidebook I read that this place is in an old panel house and I was a bit perplexed after seeing the modern facade of the house.
Strudels were very tasty and we ate them for 2 days (they were really big for only one breakfast).. Recommend it!..More
You may need a map to find your way here - although I just walked through Parukářka park and found it easily enough. Three types of strudel (Apple, Poppy Seed - with plums in July - and Cream Cheese) served from a hatch in the...window of a residential apartment block. They're large (a foot long) and really cheap (50kc - about £1.60 at current exchange rate).
My favourite was the poppy seed.
Make a visit, buy one and then sit in the park to eat it whilst relaxing and enjoying the views - maybe with a beer (?).More
I had passed this place on my many visits to Zizcov and it had never been open as I have mainly arrived late at night and for the weekend. However, on this occasion, we arrived at midday and made it a mission to go and...sample the strudl. As previous reviews have pointed out, some of the surrounding buildings are undergoing work at the moment and are covered in scaffolding (watch out for falling bricks, health and safety doesn't appear to be adhered in this part of Prague!), but it is still open regardless. The mistake we made was to order one of each flavour, far too much for 3 people in one sitting and they are not as nice when they are not fresh. However, they are very good when eaten hot (if a little messy), and not very dear, so not too much of a mistake. My one suggestion would be to maybe make them in a smaller size to enable people to sample each flavour without wasting them. I am sure the local bird were happy that we did though :DMore
Make no mistake, they make a VERY good product. Saw this place via Samantha Brown years ago and visited shortly after. Back then was AMAZING. Went again recently and one was equally amazing. Only reason took a star this time is because the other we...ordered was stone cold. We didn't ask for it this way. Two identical orders and items came back different. Baker seems upset we gave it back to heat. For that service reason only, isn't perfect score. Hopefully that was a one-time situation, though. This is truly a diamond in the Praha rough.More
This guy makes terrific strudel!
And nothing else
There are three types
- Cream cheese
Each is only 50 Krona for a ~20 CM loaf
It's about 15 to 20 mins by tram and short walk
The building is covered in...scaffolding at moment as you can see in photos but he's still operating
Worth the effort is you enjoy strudelMore
We stayed in the city center but took a bus to reach this place. We didn't find it difficult to locate at all. We tried the apple, which was absolutely fresh and delicious. It's so cheap and one is definitely enough for two people or...more. Saw this place featured on Samantha Brown's travel show and it does not disappoint. If you're in Prague, it's a mustMore
