Stumbled across this place en route to another restaurant that turned us away as they were fully booked. We wanted somewhere to try some traditional Czech food and this was the place! The beef goulash with dumplings was absolutely divine. The beer so tender and the sauce was beautiful! We had the potato soup in a bread bowl for starters which was also hearty and full of goodness. The owner doesn’t speak much English but still had a lovely charm about her, she got her daughter to take our order as her English was better. The drinks were very cheap and the food was about £10 for a main dish so very reasonable. If you’re looking for traditional Czech food then definitely check this place out! (You might have to use google maps to find it as it’s out of the way right behind the old square)

Authentic bohemian food and it could not be better. Amazing food and great service. Would definitely recommend to everyone who wants to taste delicious and authentic bohemian food for a fair price!

We ordered one of the sharing plates of meat and It was a good sized portion. Food was tasty but then again, nothing absolutely special and not one of the more memorable places we ate in during the trip. Service was not the best, took a while to order a refill of beer etc. Cover charge on the bill for 20 CZK, not sure what for? Waiter was very insistent in reminding us that the bill does not include the tip. I'm pretty sure that's standard procedure in other places but at least they don't harass you for it.

Pedestrian food and mediocre portions, in my view. One might wish Prague's most disingenuous waiter would put 10% as much effort into service as he did trying to insist on a large tip "for service". 60 crowns for a small carafe of tap water was a great deal, I was told, as most competitors allegedly charge 120. The menu notes a cover charge per person (for bread and condiments). None of those items were offered or provided, but still added to the bill. The staff may not be winning any International Waiter of the Year trophies in the near future, but with the level of eye-rolling and sighing when refusing demands for a high and unearned tip, could have a shot at some kind of acting award. Acting like a professional establishment would be a better start. Looks great from the outside, though!

Great place! Not on the main street, so its not crowded but feels homey and warm. The food is delicious (we took the potato mushrooms soup in a bread and the meat plate for 2), the staff was very friendly and funny. Definitely a place to come back to.

This has become my favorite restaurant in Prague. Friendly service, reasonable prices, and delicious food. The staff speaks Czech, English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Italian, and have been extremely helpful with suggestions. My favorite dishes are the duck and the ribs, but everything I've tried here has been topnotch, including dessert. Be sure to leave room for strudel!

Since arriving in Prague I had been looking for a traditional restaurant and not a chain . After reading all the reviews and seeing that this was a family run restaurant we wanted to have our last meal here prior to going home . This place did not disappoint, friendly service, warm atmosphere, very attentive and the food was delicious and presented beautifully. I will highly recommend this to anyone visiting Prague for a truly local experience. Thank you to all the staff that made this meal memorable.

We had many wonderful meals during our stay in Prague, but this was our favorite. The night was cold and misty, but upon entering we found the service warm and welcoming, the atmosphere cozy, and the food hearty and delicious. We started with a warm camembert top with cranberries that was so creamy. It was served with some moist, rustic bread. For the main course my husband had the pork knuckle. It was an impressive presentation with meat that fell off the bone. My son had goulash which he said was the best he'd had during his 6 months in Prague. I had the duck leg over red cabbage. I don't usually order duck, but if I were at home, I would have picked up the plate and licked it clean--so good! When he brought our food, the waiter offered to take our picture. It was a very thoughtful gesture and provided us with a memento of a very lovely evening.

A cozy restaurant in the center of Prague near the Astronomical Clock in a quiet alley. Their staff is professional and polite. If you want to try traditinal Czech cousine and beer I recommend to visit restaurant U Dvou Velbloudů.

so we looked through the window at this then empty room. The atmosphere did not have the old beams and walls of our intended place, but the smile of the man behind the bar drew us in. He was also the waiter and maybe even did part of the cooking. He suggested a meal for two that had enough food for three. The dumplings (seemingly omnipresent in Prague and the eastern part of Germany) were the best of our 9-day journey, and the pork that was part of the platter melted on our lips. This was great food, including Bohemian sausage and sauerkraut that seemed almost home-cooked especially for us. (I said that it was enough for three.) He could manage a little English for me, a little French for my partner. He had some Spanish for the family that came in after us. Most of all, he seemed genuinely glad that we were there and enjoying the food. My partner admired the beer glass and asked if he could buy one. Instead, we received the glass as a gift. We would have walked out as if on air, but we were delightfully full. It might be a little difficult to find, but don't pass up the search. It is worth it.

We wanted to eat off the main tourist areas and we found this real gem . This was full of locals .. Wow ..we ordered the beef goulash with dumplings and also the sirloin with dumplings. The dumplings were so light yet so filling. The food was the best in Prague so far .. and we are so glad we popped in.

Very nice typical Czech restaurant. Just off the busy tourist square. Typical Czech food with very good meat dishes (also vegetarian or fish options). The red house wine tasted delicious with the meat and the coffee afterwards was a good dessert. Definitely recommend! Price quality ratio was great.

A lovely local restaurant serving local food. The space was cosy and the staff friendly and attentive. I had a traditional dish in potato soup served in a loaf and steak which was cooked to my liking. Would highly recommend for traditional dining.

First time trying traditional Czech food, we had the potato soup in bread and the goulash both outstanding and full of flavour. I wasn’t sure I was going to like the food but I wish I had found this place on my first day as I would have returned at least one more time before we left. Service was quick and the beer was perfect.
