Once on a nice summer afternoon we three took place inside the city block on the restaurant garden, under trees with signing birds. As a starter we shared a mixed plate of fish: tuna and salmon tartar with grilled homemade focaccia, fresh fish, well seasoned...with rucola, some baby mungo (I guess). Good light beginning, we continued with baked octopus with potatoes and vegetables, my friend was on a diet and very satisfied. I had a „pljeskavica“, grilled traditional Balkan minced meat with vegetable salad, roasted potaotes and home made ajvar “sauce” (baked aubergines and peppers are pressed and with oil slowly cooked to make a red thick pasta ). The Giardino is a mix of Italian and Croatian cuisine (a lot of common history) and I love this one typical dish. It was excellent, one of two best I had in Prague, very tasty and juicy meat, not too thick, not too thin (sometimes it is too thin and dry, definitely not here). Very good salad of halved cherry tomatoes, rucola, and lettuce, with sweet vinaigrette, super. The potatoes were well baked, some fat could be taken off. I had a glass of red wine, Barbera Montej, Villa Sparina, Piemont and I was not much happy. The wine was extremely chilled, it took about 15 minutes of waiting and warming in hands to drink it and - well, just average. Very good service of a young boy and a lady, she was very friendly, not too familiar, perfectly estimated the proper level for us three. For about 20 euro per head a good value for money in a very nice place within Vinohrady, not far from the city centre. Recommended.More
