We visited San Carlos on the last night of our holiday looking forward to a great experience....all I can say is what a disappointment. It started off well and the La Parmigiana I had for starters was excellent, in fact no one had any problems...with their starter. It all went downhill though after. The main courses came out at different times with one of them  completely missing, it had been forgotten. These things happen we thought, however there was no apology from the chap serving us who I assume was the owner when the missing pizza arrived 15 minutes later. He tried telling us in an off hand way that he could only get 5 pizzas in the oven, which was odd as only 4 of us ordered pizzas. Then all the pizza's were incredibly salty, now I like salt and normally add it to most dishes but this was on another level of saltiness. We worked out it was the dough in the end which we were later told was made off site. Well again we thought these things can happen, and having not seen it mentioned in other reviews I can only assume someone had made a mistake with the quantity of salt in that batch of dough so possi lying a one off. However when we dared to suggest that the pizzas were a bit salty the owner / waiter was defensive to the point of being aggressive. He told us how would we know what good pizza tasted like as we weren't Italian just American (we aren't American but I'm not sure  how that is relevant). Now Pizza is my favourite food and I've eaten lots of it all around the world including Rome and Venice and I'm pretty sure I know what good pizza tastes like. In their defence without the salt issue they would have been nice. The chap got really funny with me when I suggested he should maybe try a piece of dough, he then started going round all the other customers in what was not dissimilar to a sketch from Faulty Towers raising his voice asking all the other customers (i think mostly locals) if their was a problem with their pizza. I realised at this point there was no point pursuing it. The bill was firmly placed on the table, no discount or apology (an apology at least would have been nice) was offered so we paid and left. Such a shame as this could have been a really good experience and even with the food problems it could easily have been rescued by an apology and some average customer service. I would have given 2-3 stars for the food but have to reduce to 1 star for the attitude of the ownerMore

Waitress and chef seemed nice but poor pizza and terrible service from the italian chap who served us, best avoided if you want a nice meal out and are a tourist not a local

Food was poor. Not the worst crime in the world, but when we offered our feedback the owner became aggressive, dismissed us and our feedback out of hand, and stamped around his little empire shouting loudly in Italian. Don’t normally write bad reviews, but this...guy only has himself to thank.More

What a terrible meal we had. The mains came out slowly and one meal was forgotten/ we were told there was only room to cook 5 pizzas at once. We only ordered 4! We ate at different times which is not great when you are...out with friends. The pizza dough was very salty and the manager ignored members of our group when they mentioned they could not eat all the food. In fact he walked off. No apologies. The bill came no discount applied. I spoke to the manager and complained about the service and salty pizza dough. He made no apologies and told me I wasn’t Italian (so obviously I don’t know what an edible pizza tastes like)! He started shouting at other Italian customers asking if the food was okay. Not very professional. He put the bill back on the table which we paid. Very unreasonable.More

Visited tonight and starter parmigiana was delicious but from our table of 6 people, four of us had pizzas, one of them arrived 10-15 mins after others had and 4 of us found them extremely salty!!! We deduced it was most likely the dough, having...eliminated the ham and olives as not on all pizzas. The owner was not apologetic in any way for the delay or the quality of the food and was keen to point out that as Americans we dont know anything about pizza and he was from Sicily… We are from England and have visited from Italy from Cervinia is to Lake Garda and had many delicious meals sadly this wasn’t one. Spoke to the pizza chef Carlo who was more understanding and apologised. Enjoy your visit to Prague and visit one of the many great restaurants, there are lots of them, avoid this one.More

Authentic pizzas in the heart of Prague! Such a lovely hidden gem of a restaurant, lovely atmosphere, friendly waiting staff and amazing food. I was unable to make a reservation so when we came in the waiter had asked if we had booked, even though...we hadn’t he was able to seat us on a busy Friday night. We had the starter of mixed meats and it was lovely, fresh and flavoursome - salami, mortadella and prosciutto with some olives, rocket and tomatoes to accompany it. My partner had the margarita as fancied something simple - he was very happy with it. I had the cacciatore which was lovely with fresh big mushrooms and proper Italian sausage and ham - cooked to perfection! Lovely place and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an authentic Italian pizza whilst in PragueMore

We got into Prague late on a Sunday evening with no dinner reservations. The San Carlo was open and what a wonderful surprise. Very friendly, warm atmosphere with good wine and food. Closed on Mondays.

We visited this pizzeria at sunday evening, place was calm and relaxing. We ordered 2 pizza and beers. In 10mins we had both. Pizza was perfect, authentic naples style. Beer was local one, with light bitter taste :)

We came back from a day trip outside Prague hungry and tired. San Carlo was steps from our hotel so we turned in for dinner. Great choice! We shared a salad for an appetizer and then had a pizza and a gnocchi dish to share....Everything was excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. Good wine to accompany our meals, and a Fernet to settle the stomach afterwards. Couldn't be happier with San CarloMore
