About
„La vera pizza Napoletana“, the original Neapolitan pizza Tomatoes and Mozzarella cheese are two key ingredients for the fancied Neapolitan pizza. The crust is slightly charred. It has a crisp outer layer, but inside it´s airy and light. The ingredients are not piled high, but instead are perfectly balanced. It´s sweet, salty, full flavored but not greasy. The tomatoes burst with flavor. Each bite makes you hungrier for the next. If this is what you want, you can´t miss visiting “San Carlo“. Located right next to the Charles Bridge, in the heart of Malá Strana, the Ristorante San Carlo, named after the famed Opera theatre in Napoli, provides a cosy atmosphere with Italian friendly touch and most importantly the authentic Napolitan pizza.

Amazing Italian restaurant that has everything from a stalker between the decor and the menu "from there" whose ingredients we wonder how can get there...
And yet... you feel comfortable with the boss and the waiters.
Pasta is excellent (alle vongole!) and pizzas ok, the service is effective.
Desserts also hold water with cannolli and cassatelle
We are really far from a tourist restaurant

I went to this place with my family for dinner, we ate a delicious pizza with quality ingredients. Seeing the pasta dishes and desserts passing from the kitchen to the other tables, they looked very inviting. If we would have stayed in Prague more days we would have gone again. Mr. Luca and his staff are very friendly, professional and helpful.

So we shoed up about 10 minutes before they opened - there were a few folks milling about.
When we went in they asked if we had a reservation - we did not and they said choose a table - we got a table by the window so no complaints there.
Service was fine and pizza was very good - but be aware the menu is quite literal - so if you are used to American style pizza pay close attention to the menu.
We got the marinara pizza without anchovies - not my choice - but not everyone likes them. Thing is when they say marinara - they mean it - there was no cheese on it.
Its Tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, anchovies. That is my fault - regardless is was very tasty to say the least. We nearly came back another day for it - but to order it with cheese.
We also made another poor choice with the Amalfi - its Mozzarella, Parma ham, arugula, cherry tomatoes, grana padano - so sauce.
We ended up mixing the two pizzas together and that was really tasty.
They should have brought us olive oil but did not - we got a bottle at the end and it made a difference as well.
Anyway - I would recommend this place - but again pay attention to the details and dont assume anything.

A perfect alternative if you need a break from the hearty Czech cuisine. We only had pasta and it was consistently good, only the spaghetti arrabiata was a bit mild for our taste. The tiramisu for dessert was brilliant and there was plenty of it. The wine (rosé) was at the perfect temperature and the service was very friendly and relaxed. We will be back.

I've never met a more brazen staff attitude.
Everything in the actions and words of the man who was most likely the manager expressed dislike. I don't know if it's just us or if he always is.
We had a reservation for six people, but one couldn't come and it turned out to be five of us. When this manager found out, he came over and took one desk away from us without asking, even though there were lots of empty seats, while dropping someone else's phone on the floor. Didn't apologize and started taking orders. No lemonade, okay. But they told us in a tone, like we asked about something forbidden. The girls didn't have time to choose which pizza they wanted, so before he could answer in 30 seconds, he left saying, "I'll be there when you've decided." We were as uncomfortable as possible and decided to leave. I've never felt such aggression from a stranger. And that's considering we were friendly with him.
I was at their other restaurant and there was the most pleasant staff and delicious food.

Excellent Neapolitan pizza. Excellent ingredients, like being in Italy.
We went without a reservation, everything was fully booked but the manager, Luca (Sicilian Doc) assured us that a maximum of 40/45 minutes and we would be seated and so it was. Very kind. Recommended stop if you are tired of Czech food (excellent but always the same after a while).

Small and welcoming Italian restaurant in the Mala Strana district, a stone's throw from Charles Bridge.
Excellent Italian pasta, tasty and with truly Italian flavours, as well as Neapolitan pizzas, quality toppings and a good selection on the menu.
Good prices and excellent value for money.
The carbonara was very good and also the simple pasta with tomato and basil (also taken away for the little one who was sleeping and therefore ate later) and generous portions.
Welcoming, helpful and attentive staff, as well as the service.
Better to book! We went for lunch immediately after visiting the castle and booked for the following evening.
Really enjoyable and super recommended!!!

During our trip to Prague we went twice to this pizzaria and this was all because our first visit left us highly satisfied. We order starters and only pizzas for all. Lovely.
On the next visit which was 48 hrs later our son ordered a pasta pomodoro…the spagetti was so undercooked it was inedible. We asked for a replacement and for the spagetti cooked sufficienty. We do eat pasta al dente at home so we are aware what al dente is like. Unfortunately our waiter informed us that the chef and the manager had tasted the pasta and deemed it al dente and absolutely refused to cook for any longer. That said they offered a replacement pizza. We were shocked that they refused to cook the pasta for some some minutes longer:(( Very strange

Excellent welcome, excellent food and special mention. We had dinner there twice. We were greeted with smiles and kindness (which changes Prague waiters often tristount or exceeded by hordes of tourists not always respectful or well educated...). The dishes ordered were delicious, fresh and well prepared. Special mention for Rami whose smile and attentive service made us have a good time (plus he speaks French). Bravo, keep going!

We had an excellent experience at this fabulous restaurant. Literally some of the best pizza we have ever had; the only pizza that even compares was in Italy. We were there on the first night of our 9 day trip and wouldn’t have pizza the rest of the trip because we knew it could not compare. The staff were so enjoyable and nice, and we enjoyed our whole experience with them (and of course their entertaining dog who loves to retrieve lemons) as much as the food. While inside looked very nice, we loved sitting outside with the dog. Highly recommend!

We visited San Carlos on the last night of our holiday looking forward to a great experience....all I can say is what a disappointment. It started off well and the La Parmigiana I had for starters was excellent, in fact no one had any problems with their starter. It all went downhill though after. The main courses came out at different times with one of them completely missing, it had been forgotten. These things happen we thought, however there was no apology from the chap serving us who I assume was the owner when the missing pizza arrived 15 minutes later. He tried telling us in an off hand way that he could only get 5 pizzas in the oven, which was odd as only 4 of us ordered pizzas.
Then all the pizza's were incredibly salty, now I like salt and normally add it to most dishes but this was on another level of saltiness. We worked out it was the dough in the end which we were later told was made off site. Well again we thought these things can happen, and having not seen it mentioned in other reviews I can only assume someone had made a mistake with the quantity of salt in that batch of dough so possi lying a one off. However when we dared to suggest that the pizzas were a bit salty the owner / waiter was defensive to the point of being aggressive. He told us how would we know what good pizza tasted like as we weren't Italian just American (we aren't American but I'm not sure how that is relevant). Now Pizza is my favourite food and I've eaten lots of it all around the world including Rome and Venice and I'm pretty sure I know what good pizza tastes like. In their defence without the salt issue they would have been nice. The chap got really funny with me when I suggested he should maybe try a piece of dough, he then started going round all the other customers in what was not dissimilar to a sketch from Faulty Towers raising his voice asking all the other customers (i think mostly locals) if their was a problem with their pizza.
I realised at this point there was no point pursuing it. The bill was firmly placed on the table, no discount or apology (an apology at least would have been nice) was offered so we paid and left.
Such a shame as this could have been a really good experience and even with the food problems it could easily have been rescued by an apology and some average customer service. I would have given 2-3 stars for the food but have to reduce to 1 star for the attitude of the owner

1st, the service was very slow… 2nd, the Pizza was warm but not hot, third I did not receive my change of $3 back. Maybe the OK word the waiter said was misunderstood by me when he took the money. It was in Czech Krone but that is the equivalent on a $20 bill. It is interesting that the Czech’s normally do not tip but the foreigner is expected to tip. My Apple Watch is the best just to tap. Then again some restaurants want you to tap 10, 15, or 20%. I do tip but the forced tip or the not returning of the change is not comfortable for me. I will say,, after ordering a 2nd beer, which took a long time, the pizza was cold and I asked and they did heat it up for me. I like the Pizza and beer but be careful and aware when paying.

Highly recommended!
Food that can truly call itself Italian - unlike others in the city.
We stopped for lunch, the macaroni and lasagna were delicious, the staff were really friendly.
I recommend booking on their website, otherwise you risk waiting up to an hour

We went to San Carlos to have some traditional Neapolitan pizza and this place didn’t disappoint! Like most other customers we ignored the May 23rd 1 star group who all wrote bad reviews to try and tarnish the business and visited anyway. The pizzas were delicious and not too salty at all and staff were extremely friendly :) there was a mix up with my pizza but the waiter corrected this straight away and was so lovely and not at all rude. He even offered us a free desert for the mix up and was extremely apologetic. The staff and atmosphere were great and I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for delicious pizza in Prague!
