During our Prague visit, we stayed in a nearby hotel to this restaurant. We whole family took our dinner and lunch at Mala India restaurant couple of times and we were always very happy and satisfied. We will revisit to Mala India again whenever we will be in Prague.

I say lunch, but it was 16:00. The place was very quiet, but the staff were attentive and unobtrusive. However, it took 5 minutes for our drinks to arrive and we had to signal to the staff when we wanted another drink. This is an observation and not a complaint, although I could see it would become frustrating when it was busy.
On to the food - we shared chiken tikka and chicken pakora to start, and both were delicious. The pakora was light and crispy with a welcoming 'bite' to it. Would have these again, without a doubt.
I had chicken Madra and my hubby had Jalfrezi, both accompanied with garlic naan. Both were really tasty, although I found the Madras to lack 'bite' re levels of spice. That being said, I could have asked for it to be spicier and the waiter was correct in asking how spicy I wanted it - what is mild to one person is too spicy for the next. For me, I would have it closer to the level of my husband's Jalfrezi.
The desserts looked good, but the meal we had was more than sufficient - we didn't leave feeling stuffed but definitely weren't looking for anything else to eat in the immediate future.
The bill was around 40 euros, including 2 wines and 2 bottles of Kingfisher (the most expensive beer on the menu), which I think is very good value given that it's just off Wenceslas Square.
Would we go back? Without a doubt! I felt that the food was really authentic without changing it to suit local tastes (Czech's like sweet food, and many Indian restaurants adopt this habit).
We've decided that Mala India is our go to when we're in Prague for a gig or meeting friends.

I went to this restaurant with my mother on our three day trip to Prague and we couldn’t have been happier! We ordered the pappadams (highly recommend) and pakoras (spicier than expected, but still good) for appetizers and they were delicious. For our main course I ordered the lamb curry and my mother ordered the saaj chicken. Both were fantastic and there was so much we were even able to take home our leftovers and enjoy them the next day for lunch! The waiter was also extremely friendly! Overall: Wonderful food and excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

The reason for the title of this review is quite simple. After ordering and paying for the food I realised I had been overcharged for my takeaway. On asking for a copy of the menu so I could check the prices. Our waiter firstly tried to distract me with complimentary drinks. Then when confronted simply said because I had not asked for the takeaway prices I had automatically been charged the full restaurant price. Moreover he did nothing but laugh at me. As if I was the one in the wrong.
To top it all it was very expensive almost double the cost of the same in the UK and we'll below average.
So to put this in simple terms!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

You were NEVER overcharged! Reason:
We give 7% discounts ONLY for ONLINE orders & it is very clearly mentioned in our PoP up message in our website!! When the customers order via online our system automatically calculates the discounts and we generate the customer bill accordingly. You didnt place your order online but you simply came to the restaurant to order. Thus, our waiter billed you standard price.
The waiter tried to be nice to you by offering you a complimentary drink & with a smile but he never thought you would take it in a negative way.
Please try to compare apple to apple- look at the foods costs in other Indian restaurant in the city center of Prague and we believe our costs are still a bit cheaper than other restaurants around. After all, you have seen our food costs in internet, so it is not fair to complain that it was very expensive. Perhaps you could look for other cheaper place.
And you know what- I myself have never found any cheap Indian Restaurants in London from my own experiences.

We had a very average meal here. 100% shop bought popadoms and raita yogurt sauce.
Curry for both of us was just a bowl of average tasting sauce with cubes of chicken in it, no onions or coriander leaves nothing, it was very average, not bad but certainly not great either (See photos)!
Additionally, the knives are that worn they are like butter knives, you're unable to cure through anything, what is that all about???
Decor needs updating and as in the wall at our table, re-plastering and painting; the place needs money spending on it to spruce it up and replace ancient, useless cutlery!
I fairness, the service was good and he was very polite and attentive, he did his best for us.
Would we eat here again or recommend it..... A BiG FAT NO, very average grub and not cheap for what you get, i.e. shop bought popadoms at 40 czk (£1) each?!!!

First of all, we are extremely sorry that you didnt like the meals as you expected.
For your info- we dont buy ready-made papadoms and raita. We make them in our restaurant by ourselves. Also, we charge 2 pieces papadoms 40 CZK, but you have stated one papadom costs 40 CZK which is not correct. OK?.
If you had a curry dish, i cant accept that there was no onions as curry cant be made without onion, garlic, ginger etc.
Knives and forks that we use in our restaurant, are brought from India and they are very traditional Indian cutlery, trust me- most of our guests like them as these look something special. I understand you didnt like them, its OK as different people have different taste. So, i have no issue about that.

On 13/08/2021 was our first day in prague and i visited this restaurant. We ordered 2 chicken biriyani, then the food served, i was in wash room while serving the food. Back from WC i saw my food was on table curiously i took it from there and i saw a part of steel scrubber on my chicken biriyani. I have asked the weiter what was that and he replied it came from some where else. He took that with his hand and served me that again. Such an insult i never felt from anywhere. He didn't even said sorry and he was pretending like it came from heaven.i payed for that and i left from there.
Steel scrubber was inside my biriyani. Ruined my prague days. Such a bad experience.
Hey owner if you see this you can ask your wieter that be responsible to customers. Coz i m paying and the food is precious.
This is my experience and not everyone's.

We are extremely sorry for inconvenience caused by this. We acknowledge and accept our fault here. That very tiny piece of steel scrubber was on your plate which the waiter didnt notice while he served you the meal. It was obvisouly a human mistake and we will surely pay more attention moving forward. For such a case, the waiter was supposed to take the Biryani back from you and should have offered you a newly cooked dish. However, it didnt happen here as I do understand from your comments. I am very sorry for that and ask for your forgiveness. We will surely try our very best not to happen similar issue in the future.

I went there for a lunch and when I asked for the bill they gave me a printed receipt in which they included 10% tip by themselves. When I searched a bit I found out that in Czech Republic it is up to customers to tip or not, it mustn't be included in the bill by the restaurant. Also, it is said that restaurants in the center of Prague( like this one) tend to do that to foreigners only, put 10% tip for themselves. They are disgrace to the city. It should be up to customers. Other things: the food was tasty but slow service. I waited for a tea for over 20 minutes.

We called this restaurant just 5 minute before closing time ..Requested the owner to serve us some good food. He promised to stay open and waited for us . We placed order and the food was served within 7 minutes. Pipping hot food excellent quality and authentic Indian cuisine . They were all so lovely that the 1 hour experience was so pleasant We will visit again. Top Food Top Team ! Thank you

We chose this restaurant on our recent stay in Prague.
Unfortunately none of our party was very impressed. Some of us thought our chicken tikka starters were very dry. We also asked for mild dishes but some of us thought theirs was too hot.
The member of staff who greeted us was fine but his colleague was bordering on rude. When he served us our meals he either dropped them on the table or TOLD us to pass them up the table. His attitude was not what you expect. Would not recommend

We ate delivery at a local hotel from this restaurant. They delivered it when other food delivery service it would not because we had a US phone number. I would strongly recommend this restaurant. The food was excellent. Kliwer was quick. We are going to order again tonight.

My girlfriend and I arrived in Prague late evenings and we wanted to have dinner, long story short we walked past by the restaurant and decided to walk in : we’ve been greeted friendly and given our table. The staff is incredibly friendly and very courteous. We’ve been served perfectly and the food was great, really fresh classic Indian food. I absolutely recommend and 10/10 would go again.

My mom and I absolutely LOVED this food. Some of the best Indian food we have ever had. We started out with samosas—they were incredible and then followed with dal tarka and palak paneer with rice. The service was great as well in this peaceful restaurant. 100% recommended! Go eat :)

I ate here a couple of times during my stay in Prague. I was pleasantly surprised to find an authentic Indian restaurant in Prague. Czech food is good, but nothing beats a good Indian meal. They have a wide range of authentically Indian dishes. Generous portions, reasonable prices, friendly and efficient staff. Nice place for fans of good Indian food.

We found this hidden gem accidentally. The food is one of the best Indian meals I have ever had outside of India. I would highly recommend this place. Staff is friendly, polite and helpful in suggesting options. They were happy to customize the spice level based on our request. Overall a great find.

We were really pleased with our evening at this restaurant, a short walk from our hotel. There was only one other couple there when we first arrived but soon there was a steady stream of people through the doors so clearly very popular. The wait staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent, with very generous portions. As well as the food shown in my photos we ordered vegetable samosa and onion bhajis, and we were full to the gunwales! The peshwari naan was particularly good! I would definitely recommend.
