From the outside you could not possibly imagine the super high standard of food this place is serving. On entering we were warmly greeted by the bar manager who subsequently brought us menus (in Czech) with our drinks. He returned a short while later and...translated everything for us in very good English (our Czech is non-existent). Lovely helpful, friendly guy. My partner ordered traditional duck, dumplings and red cabbage and I went for the pumpkin salad with goat's cheese. It was delightful - I am not a fan of dumplings, either English or Czech but my partner said his meal was delicious. Mine was so gorgeous that within days of returning to the UK I made my own (which was not bad but not as good as the one I had at this place). Excellent background music, comfortable atmosphere. Eat here if you are in the area....it's excellent value for money and the food is spot on.More
Restaurace u Blahu provides delectable Chech cuisine on the outskirts of Prague. Located at 4- Branik nestled in a quaint corner suite this location provides a nice place to relax after a day of exploration of the outermost parts of the city.
Upon being seated...I was greated by a waiter that immediately sensed that my Chech linguistic skills were deficient. He immediately spoke to me in perfact English which was a nice touch that made me feel right at home as an American traveling abroad.
The decor of the restaurant is simple but functional. The best part was the edition of 1940s upbeat swing music. The gave the ambiance of refined class to the quaint setting.
This is definitely a must on the list for the eclectic traveler’s pallet.More
Nice atmosphere, food beyond what we expected when we saw the low prices. Being in Prague for almost 6 months, I compared this place with Cafe Louvre. The food was extraordinary! From now on it's in my top 3. The waiter stood with us at...the table and explained every dish, really nice!More
We were searching for a not so expensive place to have a traditional lunch or pasta but we had no idea were to go since we don't speak Czech, so our solution was to take a random tram and see we're it took us, it...was the 17. After about 20 minutes in it we got out of the main center and about 4 stations after we got off the tram in a hunch with enough luck to find this place. We got in and got greeted in Czech but as soon as the waiter, this really nice guy named David, realized we didn't understand a word of Czech he was kind enough to translate the entire menú for us even showing us pictures of the ingredients on his cellphone. After a few minutes we decided to order the potato soup, they bring the plate with the ingredients and then serve the soup in front of you; a nice touch, for both and one order of rabbit, cooked with a special kind of root and a great gravy sauce accompanied by 4 sort of pancakes made from potato, and the duck, served with a Semmel knedlich in and a plum sauce which was delicious, both dishes tasted really fresh and were soft meat with the skin roasted. Amazing. The food was so good we decided to go back later to try the traditional ribs they have which are prepared in a honey and black beer sauce, and eat another soup. We took our friends so they could also try it and we tried the ribs, the pork leg, everyone had a soup and the recommendation from David a bread with bone marrow and cooked sliced red beet. Again everything had us practically licking the plates (which we did with the sauce of honey and beer) Jajajaja if we had found this place before or stayed more days in Prague surely we would have gone back to try everything on the menu and eat the things we tried again. The prices are incredible for the amazing food you get, a must in Prague.More
This review is based on two visits so far. This recently opened restaurant in the quiet neighborhood of Branik offers a reasonably wide choice of starters and mains, which changes with the season. All meals we had were cooked with fresh ingredients and tasty. There...is a daily offer, which is great value. The service is friendly and familiar. Good choice with kids. The interior could probably be a little cozier, as currently it's one big space with nothing between the tables.More
