Came here for our first night in Prague and it didn’t disappoint, was always asked if we wanted a refill on drinks. The food was amazing and well worth the price. So much so we came again and it was just as great the second...time. Steak was cooked perfectly! Would definitely recommend!More

We ate here on our first night in Prague and it didn’t disappoint! The bruschetta starter was very tasty and well presented. I had a chicken main which came with crushed potatoes and really enjoyed this. All the food was very fresh. My partner had...the pesto fettuccine which looked delicious. The drinks were very well priced too with aperol costing a fraction of what it does in the UK. The beer was also very cheap. We would definitely return here.More

Found the staff and service to be excellent. Staff very friendly and a great atmosphere inside. Had the chicken soup and nachos for starters which were nice and the nachos not as expected. Mains was chicken stuffed in goats cheese with potatoes. Absolutely gorgeous. If...I ever return to Prague, I'll certainly come back here for a meal.More

A friend had previously visited this restaurant several years ago and recommended it. Food was good and prices were cheap, would definitely eat here again if I revisited Prague.

Horrible behaviour in customer service, since we decided not to leave a tip, the answer was that "next time you should go to Mcdonalds". P.S Normally I leave generous tip, however since they put us in a horrible table (There were a lot of better...tables and put us in the corner in a very small table), we decided not to give a tip. P.S1 It is a place ONLY for locals. Even if we had a large bill, they didn't respect that and demanded with a rude and arrogant behaviour to leave a tip. We are definitely never going back. There are a lot of great restaurants around there.More

We visited the restaurant right after the lockdown, so I don't think it was fully functioning yet. Many menu items were missing. Despite relatively high prices (even for Karlín), the food was not very well prepared, it could have been better. It appeared to have...been made in a quite simple way. Large portions. Average service, without much friendliness, but standard in the city.More

Nicely designed place, with seating on the street, in inside. The staff was very attentive, smiling all the time. The goulash was good, burgers looked nice too. The best was the unfiltered Staropramen. No mistake to take one here!

We stayed in Prague for 4 days over the Christmas period. On the day we were flying home we decided to have one last walk into the city centre and call in at The Gate to get some lunch. It seemed fairly busy on the...ground level so decided to go downstairs. We wanted something substantial to see us thru the day so we both ordered a burger and fries and a beer. While we waited other customers finished and left and new customers came in, all of which got their orders before ours. We looked at each other in amazement when table after table got their food and we were still waiting. The waitress apologised after around 35 minutes and said our order would be another 5 minutes. The food finally came after 50 minutes, the fries were only luke-warm and soggy like they were left overs from yesterday and reheated in microwave and the burger bun was hard and stale also probably yesterday's. By this time we were both so hungry due to skipping breakfast, so we ate the meal anyway. I told the waitress about the poor food and the best she could do was to bring a small glass of beer as compensation which we didn't drink in any case. We just wanted to get out of there. So we paid 561 Czech koruna for the day old meal and left feeling cheated. IF WE DO EVER GO BACK TO PRAGUE WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE VISITING THE GATE AGAIN!!!More

Best steak and cake I have eaten in Prague. Staff were lovely, service excellent and everything was good, steak, spaghetti Bologna’s, fettuccine carbonara and chicken risotto all fantastic. Good sized portions and good value for money.

Have visited this establish which was extremely busy on previous occasions and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere,so when visiting Prague we decided to return to the Gate. Big mistake, food was awful cold greasy, and tasteless, so so disappointed as this used to be...a busy an popular venue.More

Good beer and good service. Somewhat noisy. Food was good, but we did have much better goulash elsewhere. (LOTS of restaurant competition in the city.) We had 2 beers, sparkling water and the goulash (gulas) and the bill, with tip, was 342 CZK, or about...$15.00 USD.More

Yes, we were able to pay with a credit card. (Though I cannot say if there are any exceptions based on type of credit card, for example, I do not know if they take American Express.)

This is a modest cost restaurant. A passable bottle of wine is about 10-15 GBP. A more expensive meat entrée would be about 10-12 GBP. Add appetizers or dessert, think in terms of about 45 to 60 GBP.
