We have come recommended by a local person and we have not been disappointed. The service was super friendly and attentive (for the first time in our stay) and the food was quality and tasty. We ordered some sausages to share, soup of the day, fried cheese and duck. For dessert the typical here, some bread fritters with candied strawberries and vanilla sauce, very rich. To repeat.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the nearby St. Nicholas Church. Surprisingly, despite the central location, most of the guests were locals. The menu consists primarily of traditional Czech dishes. Of course, there is also beer, which is appropriately tapped under the copper lid of a former brewing kettle. We were satisfied with both the food and the service and can therefore recommend the restaurant without reservation.

If you're not Czech watch the bill. It puts prices on the menu but when you go to pay they magically raise them.
We went to dinner and paid €10 more than I actually put on the letter. We ordered salmon and a Caesar salad that cost 189 kronor on the menu and the bill charged us 269 kronor, salmon and beers also changed their menu price. A real shame

We found this place by chance after a long walk. Quality food, delicious beer and what left us perplexed was the courtesy of the waiter whose name unfortunately I don't remember. All delicious but order their breaded slice of veal which you won't regret. A thousand thanks . You made us a fantastic lunch. We'll see you again soon.

Visited this place this evening. Staff are civil but that’s it. They do the job but you don’t feel welcome. Food was below average. I had chicken wings which were over cooked and I don’t think they could be any smaller. The sauce that came with them was pretty tasteless. They charge for a jug of water and you can’t have a glass of tap water either we were told. Beer was ok. Surprise Surprise we won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend it.

The restaurant specializes in Czech cuisine, so you have to be prepared for hearty home-cooked food.
The beer is - like everywhere in the Czech Republic - outstandingly good and very moderately priced.
There are several types and quantities of beer served...this is explained on the menu, but I personally didn't understand why I should order 0.25 l beer that is served with a lot of foam. Yes, it costs less of course, but then the waiter has to come more often! :)
The staff speaks English, which is enough for ordering. You shouldn't have too detailed information about preparation and ingredients, but that doesn't matter. Everything tastes good!
I had half a duck with dumplings, red cabbage and fried onions.

Typical Czech restaurant. Welcoming staff with fluent English. English menu with traditional Czech food and drink.
Had roasted duck with red cabbage, dumplings and bread, and pork belly with sauerkraut. Cooked beautifully. Served with the usual draft beer, which traditionally has half a glass head of beer.
Enjoyed the experience.

This is ‘across the river’ from the old town so less of a tourist trap area. Everyone seemed to be local. Service was swift and friendly and the food was delicious. Potions were generous but not too large. We shared the brawn as a starter - yum! I had roasted pork belly with Czech noodles and cabbage, my husband had roast duck - both delicious. Added bonus is that several trams stop right outside so easy to access.

After having a poor experience the night before in a nearby restaurant, our experience at Malostranska Beseda could not have been any better. We had a large group - 8 people, the day after Christmas, and showed up without a reservation. The staff, while making no promises, were very accommodating, and after a few minutes they were able to set us up with a table in the cellar bar. The waitress was super attentive - patient with the kids, and quick to bring replacement beers for the adults. We were very happy with the food...Pork Knuckle and Duck were crispy and delicious. All in all a great experience and highly recommended.

Haven't been here for a while. It's just good here. The staff are very friendly, multilingual and competent. The quality of the food is impressively good. I have to come here more often; Svickova was as good as I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying in a long time. The goulash, salad and pork knuckle looked very good and were highly praised.

We did not eat here; hence, I cannot comment on the food. There were three of us, and we walked to this restaurant because the reviews seemed good. The restaurant appeared busy at the time, but there were some available tables—only one was reserved, as pointed out by a waiter. Unfortunately, we encountered a rude attitude from one of the waiters, which made us feel unwelcome. As a result, we left and found another place.

This was the busiest restaurant on a rainy Monday night in this square. Some of the other restaurants had no customers but this was full of mainly Czech speaking people so seemed like a good bet. I just had the beef goulash with dumplings, there were two types of dumplings and the goulash was delicious, very peppery and tasty. Service was swift given the restaurant was so busy but this was fine and I just ate and left. This would be a good place to eat for anyone wanting to try local cuisine.
Another reviewer suggested the staff were unfriendly and did not like tourists, but suggested they would not survive without tourism. I think they would do fine as I felt I was one of the very few non Czech customers in there that night.

Good filling meals, quickly served. I had a steak (which came on a bed of roast potatoes) and my husband had a pork knuckle which was huge. Friendly waiter, beer brewed in house, in an old atmospheric restaurant. And if you’re sitting outside, the views to Prague Castle are wonderful.
