The most authentic and best value tacos I have had outside of Mexico! This place is well worth a journey to, fantastic food and very reasonably priced. You can even buy ingredients to cook at home too. Will be leaving some time for a proper...feast here sometime soon.More

I came here while trying to track down my favorite hot sauce, Cholula. I did in fact find Cholula among an enormous selection of other sauces that I have not been able to find anywhere else in Prague. I then ordered their chicken tacos which...were absolutely amazing! I have been looking for a cheap and tasty taco place (Burrito Loco just does not do it for me) and Mexicali Mercado is it. The service was exceptional- since I only speak English, the chef came over to me and helped me order exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be going back.More

Mexicali Mercado is a unique place in Prague. I absolutely loved it, shopped there quite often, ate there many times as well. I visited them mostly on weekends, therefore I can't really evaluate the service during the work week. Everything was always fine, shelves was...always full. I went to MM again this weekend, wanted to buy few items and grab a bite there. They were out of stock with so many thing that I couldn't get any of the items on my shopping list, they were seriously understaffed and both of the girls working there weren't exactly appropriate in their behaviours. I waited for the food for over 20 minutes (that never happened to me before). In the meanwhile, I had time to watch the girl in the kitchen. She was constantly screaming that she "doesn't have that or that", missing one or even more ingredients, letting everyone know... When I got my burrito, it was quite sad experience. The rice was burnt, meat was good. Otherwise, i was missing all the usual ingredients and the only thing which i got instead was a slice of fresh onion. Nothing more. It is quite easy to ruin the reputation on which MM worked for years but it seems that they are determined to do it in a quite short time. It is becoming an overpriced something "what used to be good once".More

It was one of our favorite Mexican bistro in Prague in the past, but last month it goes down so fast! The prices of the meals grown so much even of their menu, are they know they are bistro? Because prices are 185.- for lunch...menu - its like in fancy restaurant at city center. Even stuff was very polite and helpful and now they seems to be stressed and angry.... Maybe its something happened there, but .. come on! its hospitality! You need to be "all the time happy" in this bussines!! We stopped there for lunc. Result is: overpriced bistro with obviously unhappy stuff!More

I went here excited to have another authentic Mexican restaurant to visit in Prague only to leave so angered at how my boyfriend and I were treated. The woman at the register immediately was annoyed with us for coming to the register to pay for...our shop purchases. We had looked at the menu while waiting for her to come over so when she asked if there was anything else we wanted were surprised at how annoyed she was that we wanted food. I ordered the small vegetarian burrito, then she had to re-scan all of our shop purchases because she did not ask my boyfriend if he wanted food before starting to scan everything again. So when I told her that he wanted food as well she was angered. I told her never mind, we do not want the food. She said no, no, no, it's fine, while making it clear with her face it was not fine. Then our food came. It was the smallest burrito I have seen and it cost me 110czk. The two tacos my boyfriend ordered where barley bigger than my burrito. We sat down to eat and in the first bite of my burrito I could tell there was something wrong with the rice. I took a second bite, yep, not all of the rice was cooked. My boyfriend took a bite and agreed, yes, that is like eating sand in a burrito. As the tiny thing cost so much I tried to continue eating it. I could not. I opened it up to try and scrape the rice off only to find it was only rice and peppers. That was all. I went back to the woman that had rang us up (as she was the only person not in the kitchen) and told her the rice was not cooked all the way in my burrito. She looked at me like I was crazy, then turned and shouted across the restaurant at the cook to tell her I was saying my rice wasn't cooked in my burrito. Then they both started laughing at me. I asked for a refund since it was not edible. The woman again laughed at me and said I don't do that and then walked away and gossiped with the cook. To say I am never going back here is an understatement. You can buy most of the stuff they sell there elsewhere. Globus has a large amount of their products for sale. Alberts grocery store has some as well and if you can, there is always Makro. All those places sell most of the items they have for a lower price. And every other place in Prague that I have been to and ordered a burrito makes them much bigger, with many more things inside and at a better price point.More

During LaverCup we, group of 4, visited Mexicali shop and bistro for dinner. In fact, during the day we checked the place out, and were very keen to come back. The SHOP is good for spices, canned food and ingrediences and Mexican beer, but except...some peppers and tortillas, they do not actually have much = you do your shopping in a regular grocery shop and here stop by for the Mexican "flavours" (only). The BISTRO is small, yet offer is quite satisfactory... and I tell you already very tasty! Unfortunately the organization is TERRIBLE! You order at a cash desk (very slow cashier, mixing with normal shoppers), and then you pick your food from semi-open kitchen, where -that day- was only one young pretty girl busting her ars. So for a share-set of tacos you wait about 40minutes, despite being 3rd in line at arrival. Behind us crowd of 20+... maybe some are waiting still today. Ridiculous... we pitty the cook... we're angry at the manager/owner. I mean I cannot believe such system could work in normal day during normally busy hours, and to underestimate the situation like this during an even like LaverCup (O2 arena being 50mtrs away), it must be either supidity or arrogance. WHAT A SHAME! The place is nice, basically good concept, simple and authentic/cheap-chic... just as we like it, and we wish to be great. Nevermind 3 of us visitors, but we came with 1 local (living nearby, not knowing about this place), and he said that this 1st time was his LAST time. I guess we can persuade him next time we come to visit him... and I really hope the next time we will see improvements and Maxicali will become his local regular option.More

Mexican bistro and supermarket, very nice and pleasent staff, a lot of ingredients to buy and daily menu at very reasonable prices. And my son loves Jarritos, if you know what i mean...not exactly my choice, I prefer some Mexican beer. It is not a...restaurant! It is "just" bistro or fast food. So if you expect this, you will get what you deserve. I like it, it is very local place, in warm days there is a few tables outside in the courtyard and it looks pretty same as in any given Mexican town. By the way, it is just a few meters from O2 Arena, the venue of many nice concerts (NickCave this Fall) or sport events...ice hockey, basket and so on.More

Pleasant, exotic bistro/Mexican market, to cheer up your eating habits in Prague, very nice and dedicated staff. Mexican produce in tins maybe less, however I admit it works well as a colourful and attractive display.

Visited couple of times. The food is not Mexican, the portions are small and the flavor is all the same across the menu. No matter what you order its all gonna taste the same. Far from Mexican Sabor! Bottomless Aqua de guayaba and salsas are...ok. Mercado is nice. Good selection of chiles. Overall average Tex Mex. PFLMore

I love Mexicali Mercado! I have been visiting this place for at least the last 6 months. Their menu is delicious and fresh and for someone who is from Southern California and use to authentic Mexican food, this is pretty accurate! They have an enormous...selection of Mexican products so you can make your own Mexican dishes at home. I visit at least 1 every two weeks to stock up on fresh cilantro , black beans, corn tortillas, and enchilada sauce. This is probably the only place I've seen that also has corn husks for tamales! Their weekly lunch menu changes each week but they consistently have tacos, burritos, salads, and nachos on the menu. They have a fresh salsa bar and delicious fruit drinks along with a new soup each week. The customer service is also fantastic!More
