We came here for lunch after seeing really good reviews. The food was delicious but unfortunately the staff were very abrupt and we didn’t feel that welcome here. It could be that we are English-speaking and the staff only speak Czech, but we didn’t even...get time to order any drinks before our server turned around and left the table.More

I enjoy coming here for lunch, depending on the daily menu (you can check their Instagram for this @kavarnavelryba ) they do a variety of cuisines, personally like the risotto and chicken strips here

After a long day of sitting on an Interrail train in the summer, you’re tired. You’re unable to feel certain body parts. You’re coated in a thin film of sweat. You haven’t eaten food in a while. You’d eat anything; hell, you might even eat...your friends (I’m just joking, I promise). This was the cure. Our troop ordered 4 Royal Burgers with fries, and it was absolutely delicious, with exceptional value for money roughly 10 euro equivalent). The burger itself was quite big, as well as being very well-structured and cooked. Fries were also lovely; sufficiently crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Good burger, what else is there to say? The ambiance is also attractive. I saw that it was Communist-era decor, which I can’t confirm for sure, but the underground atmosphere was cute. An easy recommendation for anyone.More

A short walk from Hotel Elite lovely understated restaurant. Cheery staff with a prompt service. A good range of contemporary meals. Halloumi Fries and sweet potatoes. Pork tenderloin and pumpkin risotto were just a few of the delights. 2 courses and 2 drinks cost about...16 pounds. Doesn’t look much but buzzing vibe and great food don’t miss out. Tasty, fresh and well presented.More

We had been sightseeing for ages and we were almost back at our hotel when we saw the Kavarna. In and down we went! It's bright and jolly and the staff were very friendly. I had a mushroom risotto. My wife ordered an halloumi dish....We shared a huge pile of homemade fried crisps. All three items were lovely and good value for money. We enjoyed our drinks and set off back to the hotel. It had been a worthwhile stop off to a place where clearly, the locals go.More

Popped in for late breakfast/ early lunch, so menu was limited only to soup and 3 dishes (a bit of disappointment at begging). After bit of thinking and checking what’s on other tables, we opted for semi-dark beer (as dark was sold out....😒), risotto with...dried tomatoes and ham, and dumplings with blueberries and cottage cheese. Beer was ok, not bad. Risotto was bit too wet (nearly as thick soup) and therefore tomato taste was overpowering. Also ham slice tasted plainish because of that. But dumplings....mmm...I could eat them all day long! It might be hard to accounted as main dish as it was sweet, but I wouldn’t mind to have it for my lunch on regular basis. Simply great!More

I love this place for their lunches. Every day you can choose between four options and one soup. It’s delicious every time and not pricey at all. Nice coffee and beverages as well as their service.

We loved this place! The main guy is warm, smiley and welcoming; as are the rest of the team. Great place to hangout with a beer or get some really tasty, great quality food at a reasonable price. We recommend the celery fries, they were...‘perfect’ just as promised. If you’re in Prague and want a cool place that the locals love, be sure to pay this place a visit!More

We went here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed! We ordered a typical Czech gnocchi dish from the lunch menu (they switch to dinner menu at 3pm) which was very tasty. We also ordered 4 starters from the dinner...menu to share and they were all yummy! They offered a special beer of the week which was very good too. Friendly staff and funky decor.More

Like a previous reviewer we were on our way to another restaurant but tempted by the menu we ventured in. For us the first room was a bit noisy but the back room bar was just perfect. Most enjoyable haloumi burgers and excellent fries. So...good that we returned on our final night in the city and were not disappointed. The woman who served us recognised us and was the most hospitable and happy person we met in the service industry in this city. Loved its location off the main tourist drags and worth making the effort to find.More

This restaurant is absolutely incredible and the food is outstanding. My partner and I ate a 3 course meal and had a large beer each and the total came to Czech equivalent of £26. We had the chocolate soufflé for pudding which we had to...wait 10 minutes for because the bake it fresh to order! AmazingMore
