Home of the original Budweiser and it is MUCH better than it's American pretender! Food is very good in the restaurant as well.

Not as good as the Krajinska brewery. We stayed there for late lunch. However the restaurant was also empty, we waited too long to eat. Staff not as polite as I would expect, the taste of meal didt surprise me.If I would visit Ceske Budejovice once again, I would not come back to this restaurant.

A most interesting tour of the brewery. Unlike some "Czech" beers that are available abroad, Budvar is brewed only here - it is the real thing! The brewery is stat owned but mnaged independently - a good example of how public ownership works well. A big improvement on some other Czech breweries that have been taken over by international brewing... More

We went here for some beer and to have lunch. Again I had the 4% light beer which is great at lunch time. I ate sirloin in cream sauce with cranberries and dumplings- it was excellent- much better than a lot of Bavarian food I have had in the past. Husband had bamboracky with ham which he said was also... More

A very nice informative tour of the brewery. Take a sweater or light coat along as some parts are refrigerated. I liked their beer.

You'd expect something more historical, but the brewery--or at least the museum and attached buildings--looks like an office building. The restaurant is around the corner. As always in the Czech Republic, you'll be seated next to someone who's smoking. The Twenty-first century certainly hasn't arrived here in this respect. The food here is simple, unimaginative pub fare to go along... More

It's about 1.5 miles due north from the main square: Karoliny Svetle 4. Not a pretty walk by any means but not bad. We popped in just for a couple beers and some fries in the early afternoon. It was fine. Typical Czech surly staff, decent beer and good fries for about 5US.

I spent almost two hours locating the restaurant. Others are fine as normal beer pub.

We are here before the brewery trip and I had a glass of the light 4% budvar beer and to eat Carp both of which were really good. Thoroughly recommend- also we walked there and it took half an hour from town although you could get the number 2 bus.
