I have eaten at this pub twice, and both times it was a very pleasant experience. The food is really good. I had the pork schnitzel and potato salad, and, of course, beer. Located in a quiet road. We sat outside and had a friendly waiter who explained the menu to us. We ordered Gulasch and a set dinner: sauerkraut soup, pot roast with mushrooms and dumplings, and plum dumplings with sweet buttery quark. All good, just slightly...too salty, nothing terribly fancy, but filling, and we had a nice evening.More
In a street just off Česke Budėjovice’s stunning main square. It’s originally an old pub, but Lonely Planet is misleading in claiming that nothing much has changed here since 1897. It’s comfortable and cosy but feels over-enthusiastically renovated, with no antique patina to speak of...(though the old photos on the walls are interesting). But I very much enjoyed my pair of Vienna sausages, served with mustard and horseradish, potato salad, draft Pilsner Urquell and coffee. Friendly service. The bill was 232 Crowns, about A$14.More
Absolutely bad food. At our 5 day trip the worst food in Budweis. Only good prices and good for drinks. Avoid for food!
We were seated and waiter promptly took our beer order. He spoke English well enough but my Czech lady friend helped on the food order. Food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I ordered dumplings and the Czech version of Sauerbraten. She ordered a chicken dish....Price was reasonable. Restaurant was clean, not smoky, and not too noisy. Families were also there.More
