We REALLY liked this restaurant. The service was efficient and polite, and the food was delicious, especially the stuffed pheasant I had. The decor is also interesting-- they specialize in game food, so the walls are covered with heads of animals-- NOT for PETA lovers,...but we shall be back!More
Really cool restaurant just 40 minutes from Prague, decorated with lots of taxidermy of wild animals from the surrounding forest like wild boar, deer and stoats etc.
The food was very tasty Czech style game food and very reasonably priced. After dinner our very friendly...waitress took us outside to feed the kitchen vegetable scraps to the deer opposite which was really nice of her.
We will definitely be back again once we can.More
If you like game meat and want to feast like a Kaiser, check out this restaurant next to the Konopiště castle. The food is delicious and plentiful. We did the Kaiser’s feast and stuffed ourselves on succulent meats and tasty sides. Would recommend to anyone!
My cousin surprised me with a trip to the Konopiste Castle. This area is awesome and the trip to the castle was perfectly timed with this restaurant. My cousin has excellent taste in food and this time he did not disappoint. The two suggestions that...I will make are: Get a reservation and look at the menu on the internet. A lot of Americans are accustomed to menu that has pictures of the dish. I already had it figured out on what I wanted in advance. The atmosphere is great, they even have an Orchestrion (a self playing machine). The servers are attentive. We gave ourselves more than enough time to eat. The interior is decorated like a lodge. When you arrive you pay for parking for both the restaurant and the castle. Besides the castle once owned by Arch Duke Ferdinand, the area has a lot of wild life. Wear comfortable shoes as you walk around on the grounds. I got a chance to feed deer grass. I highly recommend this place.
My dish was:
Danek na smetane ( young deer with sauce from well known Czech meal svickova)
Kulajda ( excellent mushroom soup)More
This is an excellent place for dinner or lunch. There were few patrons in the evening so we could park right outside. Hand feeding the deer opposite the restaurant was lovely but may lead to unwanted questions from younger visitors.
I could not face venison...but the wild boar and dumplings was excellent. The vegetarian had only one choice but declared the fire edam to be brilliant. Apparently the princesses loved it too!
Strange and quirky to be surrounded by taxidermy but it added positively to the atmosphere. Service was excellent as was the food and prices were reasonable given the setiting. An experience as well as a meal.More
After stopping at the Konopiste Castle we decided to have lunch at Stara Myslivna and I am happy we did. The food was very good, service excellent and the atmosphere was of a hunting lodge. We ate inside and, while not a fan of hunting,...did not mind being surrounded by the game trophies that lined the walls. The food is traditional - I had the dill soup with mushrooms and my husband had the wild game goulash - and we both liked our choices. We were happy that we found this place for a nice lunch.More
This restaurant is right next to the hotel if you exit the castle on the parking lot side. The menu is not very big, but they have enough options. Because of the heat we weren't very hungry. Their desserts were good. Service is friendly and...they speak English well. Which is a great help because no matter how hard we try the Czech language is still very difficult for us :)
Nice home made lemonade. And it's a lovely building.More
