This traditional pub has open fires, stone floors & friendly efficient service. The food was good too. A lovely place to go for a drink or a meal as it has a wonderful atmosphere.

First time we decided to give the place a try after driving around in the drizzling rain looking for a decent pub lunch . And wow were WE taken by surprise when we walked in . Two blazing fires , briming smiles from the bar staff and a choice of tables to be seated ! . First impressions , very... More

We chose the Talbot because it was midway between our friends home in Lancashire and ours in Somerset. 2 other friends turned up but couldn't stay to eat but meant we needed more time to socialise. No problem the friendly staff held our table for almost an hour past our booking. The beer was excellent but the meal and service... More

Absolutely stunning! Steve, the gaff, was lovely. Very friendly and made sure that the birthday boy was well looked after. Food isn't cheap but is well worth the money. Had a wonderful night in a lovely pub. Will be back again!

The veggie roast sounded promising - a nut roast wrapped in cabbage leaves, it was okay but I wouldn't order it again. But 10/10 for the presentation, trying an inventive dish and giving some thought to the vegetarian option!!! The roast potatoes had hard skins, everything else was good & the meal came with a small jug of veggie gravy... More

Staff were friendly and polite, Ordered our meal and god knows what goes behind that kitchen door but the meal was DEVINE.. can't praise... More

My wife said to me "I want to do something a bit different on Saturday" so we decided to go back to the Talbot, we had not booked and when i asked for a table we were offered one in the lounge area with cosy log fire, unfortunately it was a high top, fine for me but a challenge for... More

Visited here again for my birthday meal as a group of 6, on Friday night.. We had a wonderful meal, thai crab cakes, baked camenbert to start, followed by a superb lamb dish, steaks and stew. The food was fantastically well cooked and presented and the knowledge of the waiting staff was excellent in helping us decide. I was 'talked into'... More

We booked a table on a Thurs lunchtime after Xmas. We were not booked in until late afternoon as understandably, they were still busy following Xmas & during the peak lunch sitting. When we arrived, 5-10mins prior to our booking, we were told by the landlord the table was not ready yet so we happily grabbed a drink at the... More
