My wife and I visited this place a month or so ago having a table for two. Everything was perfect on that occasion so we thought we would take for family back for a chill out just before Christmas oh how things change. We booked...More

Nice people, good beers, good home cooked food, open fires, oldey worldy feel with beams, great in the summer to sit out the back and watch the cricket, dog friendly, car park. All good.

I can only assume that the Groupon deals (another one today) are an understandable attempt to drum up further custom. Perhaps because it worked, I’m afraid yesterday’s Sunday lunch fell short for us. I do understand how difficult pub catering is, having had some experience....More

Not having visited before, we used a Groupon voucher to try out the food on offer, especially the Gluten and Dairy free options. Quaint little hostelry with lots of history, but modern tables and comfortable chairs in the dining room. Sue saw us to our...More

We visited last Saturday and had the three course lunch, a bargain at £10.95. Really interesting starter (prosciutto, fig and halloumi salad), very tasty main courses (gammon pie, cottage pie) with good chips, delicious puds (raspberry Eton mess, choc chip bread and butter pudding). Good...More

We visited for the 3-course lunch, and found the food freshly-cooked (yes, home-made chips) and to a good, unpretentious standard. Very good value for money, and a great antidote to the chain eateries nearer home. The three real ales available were very good. A note...More

We eat in the conservatory and it was a little bit like a cafe. The food was just above average. There was a long queue for the carvery so we eat of the main menue. The staff were all pleasant and polite.

I used to really love this pub. It was once my favourite and the location and beer on offer is still great. However the bar area/seating is now staring to look very tired and unloved. The quality of the food has also slipped a bit...More
