Stopped here in our motorhome over Easter weekend. Excellent steak and burger with stilton meal on saturday night and an amazing easter roast special on the sunday. BEST roast lunch i've had in a pub for a long time. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Great location for walking the Basingstoke canal and other circular walks in the area. Very... More

We arrived to go on a 2 hour walk and were too early for the pub to be open but we were given some instant coffee anyway and it was put on our tab for our return! The people in the pub were just lovely and the meal was very good. It seems a place for hikers/walkers to congregate and... More

We were coke by back from a day out and fancied a late lunch. Heard good things about the pub so popped in. We both had burgers (cheese and Stilton) and were both very impressed. Homemade burgers that tasted fantastic. So juice! A solid 10 out of 10! We planed to have pudding but were stuffed. We'll be back to... More

Great little pub for some food after a long walk by the canal 👌definitely recommended for a pub lunch and a few drinks. The venison Madras was delicious and the T.E.A ale was just what i needed

Sunday lunch in the sun .. within excellent walking country ... what could be better. The food could - as it turns out ! We had heard complimentary things about this pub and so travelled to try it out ... but (on this occasion) "Average" would be an accurate marking for the Fox & Goose

It was everything we wanted- warm feeling building, friendly staff and good food/drink. We stopped on the off chance as we normally walk from here to Odiham along the canal. But as we had had a very bad experience in Odiham we stopped for lunch. What a gem we had missed. Had a meat and cheese platter £6 per head.... More

Looking for somewhere that's a real PUB, good food and a warm welcome. This is it. Try the Venison Livers, slightly sweet, succulent and very moorish with gravy & mash. I haven't tasted liver any better. Our friends also were very pleased and the real ale was was perfectly served with 4 on tap. What more could you ask for?

Thank goodness that this is a traditional village pub with proper pub food and not some nasty gastro-pub that is so common these days. Ideally situated for refreshments after exploring the Greywell Tunnel area of the Basingstoke Canal. It's tucked away but not remote, it has a large car park, welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere. Only lost a point... More

Hi Thanks for you review, we are glad you enjoyed your time at our pub, Just for further reference the nomad menu can be given to you from over the bar. We don't leave them in there as I'm sure you can appreciate they can get very messy with the volume of drinkers we get in that area. please ask... More

Proper pub, real fires and beautiful surroundings. Friendly service and food is amazing (fresh, good portions, well cooked, good variety). Highly recommended.

We happened upon this pub as it was on the Tastecard, and we fancied trying somewhere new in a quintisential Hampshire village. We thought the website to be a little old fashioned but we chanced it, and thankfully we did. Lovely, lovely food with a roaring log fire and great service. We will definitely going back.
