Great Food, service, and overall atyling of the place

We visited The Old Village Tavern for dinner. it was a really Nice place with autentic styling from the medertaranian. The food was plenty and delicious and atmosphere the same. Staff was friendly and the place was very well placed on Nissi Ave. Would defenitly reccomend it to anyone visiting Ayia Napa for at taste of good medertaranian food.

Delicious and fresh

Beautiful surroundings. Very helpful staff. The food is delicious, fresh, its a lot. We walked at 8 in the evening, played nice music. I really enjoyed the meat and fish sets. We were three people, we didn’t eat everything, so the waiter put the rest of the food in a box for taking home. Before entering the tavern was asked to show a covid-19 certificate

Friendly staff, prompt serving. But the food really touched my heart. Had the meat platter and everything was very well done. Was a bit concerned at first when I saw the serving size. It was this huge platter and I thought it was a bit much even for 2 people but it was so good that we cleaned the plate.

Just been to for a family dinner with my husband and my 2 year old son. After ordered main meals I asked the waiter if he would put any starters on the table as most the restaurants put bread and olives and he said no so I decided to order some king prawns in ouzo sauce. I didn't know what ouzo was but he explained it was a drink they are dipped into when cooked. Everything was perfect until they brought the starter. This starter was 3 prawns and 1 prawn head in a bath of cream sauce and half of a pitta bread. This starter cost 6€ . A rip off. Wondering how our meals would come as they were 16.90€ each we started to panicked but when they arrived it was actually a good portion and tasty. Our meals arrived together with a big hard crust bread but soft inside and 3 butters ( I think that should have been better come as a starter when I did ask for) so for me it actually made me order a started as we were hungry for at end having bread too. Employees saw that my husband didn't like his meal but it was not their fault as it was his own choice but still asked if he would like to have something else and to our surprise the waiter offered him a chips portion to make up for it. I wonder if that chips were made of gold as it wouldn't cost the same price but again it made us laugh as they could have offered another main meal if they want to. Again it wasn't their fault he didn't like so we weren't expecting nothing it was just the way they asked if he wanted some chips😄. Then I requested the bill and they brought us some iogurt pudding with nuts / raisin. We didn't like much but we appreciated still. Anyway in the end I paid for 2 meals of 16.90€ plus a kopperberk 5.50€ , a starter 6€ , ice tea 3.50€ nearly 50€ for 2 people as my son eats from our food still. Environment was nice with music not live as they advertise but radio. Have heating next to the tables outside too. Overall was a good meal but I had eaten better in different restaurants around ayia napa. They have 2 cats walking around house cats😍 and they are very friendly.

Guy on front ushering people in said the tavern had aircon. Whilst I accept it did and it was warm July. The aircon if on at all was useless. We were ushered into the extremely warm back room and whilst there were ceiling fans we weren't under one. Had to ask for a cushion as the seats were extremely uncomfortable also. The service was slow and my order was incorrect. We asked for desert menus but the service was so slow again we asked for the bill instead. I would not recommend

Firstly I'd like to say staff were friendly however the entire service was poor. We had a big group of about 30+ for a wedding party and as imagined it was hectic but we was ordering drinks still while the food was coming out. The plates of food wasn't enough to go around for a start and the the fact they charged a child of 2 years old £25 for probably not even half a pitta bread is beyond me. You basically paid for your SEAT not the actual meal. There was a lot of food left that was untouched but it definitely wasn't enough choices for a proper Greek meze. I do feel like it was a big con from the start as there wasn't a head count on who was there, who was paying etc. They basically asked us to pay on big bill at the end yet we paid seperate for drinks the minute we got them pretty much. It seemed rushed and unorganized. Not sure if it was just because of the amount of people or not but it was unnecessary. They charged us a whopping 300 EXTRA euros for 15 people who wasnt even there, the fact children as young as 2 were made to pay baffles me. If I'd had known I would have ordered my child something off of the menu she could eat. As when we left we was hungry still and wasn't satisfied. The venue and the entertainment was lovely but I do think it should have been more organised unfortunately. Won't be returning. Apologies didn't get any photos of the food as when it came it was gone if it was edible enough. However the later courses were left untouched by majority of people

Don’t be fooled by the good reviews we read them and thought with all the 5* it’s got to be good. How wrong were we.

Read the reviews of this place as we had driven past a few times and thought the place looked inviting. Most people seemed to have given it a great write up. I’m totally confused as I’ve been coming to Cyprus for years and have eaten in a lot of places. I can safely say the 2 meals we had were probably the worst we’ve eaten. I had Diane sauce on my steak, which at €30 wasn’t cheap , this tasted of vinegar and my wife’s ravioli were stodgy and tasteless. All floury and hardly any filling. If you want a decent steak go to sage. One more thing without being petty the lady that greets you had her young son with her that was accosting customers to buy little trinkets he had in a box. He was literally pulling customers by the hand. To my surprise a few ladies bought items I think out of pity. Personally not a good look for front of house.

All started really well. Recommend wine was very nice. Prawn starter was beautiful and very reasonably priced. We ordered 2 chicken Donner kebabs and was only served one. But was happy to share it as the portion was huge. Half way through the kabab we found 2 pieces of raw chicken. We fished it out. The staff did offer to replace it but we had almost finished it. So not sure we we actually had eaten some raw chicken to. After the meal they gave us a few slices of complimentary watermelon as a result. Which I though was pretty lame as raw chicken can make you extremely poorly. When they brought the bill we refused to pay for the main and they then did deduct it from the bill.

Amazing restaurant!

Fabulous food, we ordered the meat platter and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely, no waiting to be served, we opted for a carafe of red wine which was very nice, there was live music played giving a great atmosphere. Very enjoyable evening.

Worst restaurant ever in my life

The worst restaurant I've been to in Cyprus. The service is slow and low quality. The waiters were lost even though the restaurant was about 30% full. Despite the live music evening, it was not a good atmosphere. People were tensed because of the atmosphere of the place. I ordered two drinks, one of which was brought out immediately, the other was forgotten and it took them 20 minutes to serve it. I ate a Moussaka, and my partner's favorite dish was the Calamari rings. The latter was oozing with oil and tasteless, which we had to pay for even though it was only tasted and sent back. They didn't even offer to exchange it for another one. I got the answer from the waiter that he tasted it and liked it. The boss replied that the calamari was fresh and there was nothing wrong with it, he did not want to understand that the problem was with its preparation. No one should choose this restaurant. Terrible atmosphere, terrible waiters and terrible food.

Unreasonably extremely expensive - Keep away from this tavern.

I am Cypriot and i visit with my wife a lot of restaurants in Ayia Napa area, several times every year. I was charged €9.90 for a tiny village salad that other restaurants in this area charge less than €5! I was charged €4.90 for a local large beer! This was the most expensive price i had to pay for a large local beer from all restaurants i have visited in the area until now and i have visited a lot! Keep away from this tavern.

Fabulous, even under covid!

Really warm and welcoming restaurant, charming and smiley staff, even through the pressures of Covid. Fabulous food; tamamas as it's meant to be.. smooth and velvety, with piping hot pittas, melt in the mouth lamb kleftico, that fell from the bone. If you are in Aiya Napa and want an excellent meal, good service with wonderful staff, at a great price..this is the place definitely not to miss!

Read some good reviews online so was looking to forward to dinner. Sat at the table and waited a good 10/15 mins for a drink order. We proceeded with the Meze which felt like it all came at once & the staff were not particularly helpful. The food quality is ok but personally think there are better tavernas in the area.

We have eaten here twice and I would love to come again but we are set on course to discover more cuisine in the area. The ambient is lovely and welcoming. There's plenty of waiters taking care of your comfort and needs. Paul, the manager was an ace. Not that he recommended good wine along the dishes he also let us know how they are prepared. The menu is rather small but this is how I like it. We had musaka, salads, octopus, tzaziki, lamb,... Nothing has disappointed and was finger licking good. If you are nearby you have to stop here and try it!

Absolutley fantastic, me and my partner went as staying in nappa and on arrival they took our temperature and sanitised our hands, the staff were lovely and welcoming and we got a litre of rose and a fish platter for two for 40 euros, im a big lad and we couldnt finish the platter as it was so much still stuffed now 4 hours later, the food quality was amazing and the wine was great. didnt get the name of the man serving us but he was exceptional! really nice and friendly and gave us a free sweet wine at the end. will see you all again soon before we go. if you’re in napa this is the place to go!
