Good value fish and chips by the riverside

Had several meals from this takeaway joint on the riverside at Tea Gardens, so I can safely recommend it. It does get very busy at times so there may be a bit of a wait, and you have to be careful about closing times, as it will sometimes shut by 7 or even 6:30, depending on the demand. In peak... read more

$15 for piece of grilled barra - no chips. Bit rich for a take away. We travel the hwy a lot and have eaten good fresh fish at a number of places, for much better value. Won't be coming back here.

We had gone to Nelson Bay on the ferry link and came back to Tea Gardens for lunch. We decided to get some fish and chips from Hook and Cook. This place is a gold mine being flat out all the time. And we can see why. The staff were friendly and very efficient and it wasn't long before our... More

Whilst spending a weekend in tea gardens we decided to buy take away for lunch, the fish cocktails were dry and tasteless and the Pluto pup was so hard I was a bit concerned about breaking my teeth, very disappointed

Excited to try this place as they cooked food fresh to order, I left the kids at home with Dad and went prepared to wait. I waited 50 minutes which I felt was a long time for fish and chips. The veggie burger patty was only partially defrosted and without beetroot so it was thrown out. The chips, which were... More

We went there to have dinner down by the side of the water. We order flathead n chips, but we didn't get what we expected. Our fish was soggy and sticking to the paper on the bottom, chips were oily and soggy. There were bones in my "boneless fish". The staff choose which order they want to cook when (we... More

A fish and chip shop who has thought of and delivered on the things that matter. Freshly cooked food that is divine. Crunchy fish batter (other options available) and chips that are not oily. Wide menu with all the usual choices plus a wide variety of seafood choices. Self serve sauces, salts, and vinegars. All in bottles/shakers and not those... More

Ordered crumbed snapper and grilled barramundi and some calamari rings with chips. Simply excellent take away to eat at the waters edge. Large fish servings. Friendly service.

After two disappointing meals it was very refreshing to find this shop. Burgers awesome, chips crisp and potato scallops perfect.
