We were having considerable trouble finding a restaurant, not least because we had failed to make a reservation! We 'stumbled' across The Rooster and were not convinced it was for us, a solo violin was trying to attract customers, not very successfully I'm afraid, and decor was all rather dated and fin de siecle! But we were all proved to... More

The Rooster has a vintage feel with a French tinge. We were seated near the window which had a wonderful view of the mountains. The food was delicious and prompt though very small portions and expensive. I loved the live entertainment, and great service.

Great food and old fashion restaurant. All things French, just great. The atmosphere was one of old world charm, can get busy but go with the flow.

We discovered the rooster 12 months ago and have eaten here several times. From brilliant it has declined to expensive and fairly average. We like their music nights and some dishes have been delicious. It has got to a point of being poor value though.

During phone booking told we could bring BYO. Upon arrival told we had been misinformed and had to order from wine list. Fair enough, no problem. From the very limited menu 2 dishes were unavailable. Bread w olive oil and balamic vinegar arrived without the balsamic. Escargot entree then arrived with A BEE in it. Waitresss barely mumbled any apology... More

I was with a party of five people and all our main courses and desserts were just wonderful. Service was just ok very inexperienced waitress but the food made up for this, a little expensive

We ate here as a couple after a local recommended it and we were not disappointed. The food was exceptional and the service attentive without being invasive. We will definitely return.

We are local and like to eat here semi regularly. On a recent visit food was great and service was friendly. However, apparently the chefs were keen on playing loud bass in the kitchen which gave the impression that you were eating in a nightclub. To be honest ambience in a restaurant is just as important as service and food.... More

Dear Chris I am very sorry that music from the kitchen was played so loudly as to come through to the Dining Room this is a problem which is totally unacceptable and your letter highlights how it can ruin an evening. Please come again as our guests for a complimentary meal three course a bottle of wine. with my sincere... More

A nice place for a relaxing lunch while exploring the Blue Mountains. At the terrace one has a great valley view. Seating is prone for some maintenance (i.e. replacement), but friendly equipped with plaids to shelter against the mountain winds. Although a pleasant spot with acceptable food, we found prices were also a bit ‘located at the top of the... More

We stayed here and have dinner. The french cuisine is traditional and was the best we had for the whole Aus trip.
