This is where we take each other for birthdays, & have done for 10 years. I love this place. Great food and friendly service. Vegetarian & GF options available. I love the eclectic mix of furniture, crockery & cutlery.

Well what can I say. A great restaurant with friendly Staff. Food was delicious. We had the slow cooked lamb and it was perfect. With vegetables and big chips we could not fault it. For dessert we decided to try something different and the creamy liquorice cheesecake did not disappoint. Yum!! A couple of glasses of red with the meal... More

My husband and I actually visited this restaurant with some friends quite a while ago and found the food to be reasonably good without being spectacular. However, my major criticism is the so-called 'hospitality' and overall service. This restaurant is situated in one of the busiest tourist hubs in the Blue Mountains (ie. Katoomba), yet the staff seem to get... More

Situated in the old movie theatre it has a bygone atmosphere. Definitely try get the back window table with the view. Best at dusk. Food is nice. Good ambience.

I have lived in Katoomba for 5 years and have heard much about this restaurant. However, I was extremely disappointed to have lunch here for the first time today. The restaurant is up a steep flight of stairs with no elevator access, so not suitable for the disabled. The view from the restaurant is magnificent, so make sure to book... More

We ate at The Avalon Restaurant while staying at Katoomba recently. I would recommend booking as this is a very popular eating venue even though it is quite big. It is very 'quirky' inside and nice and warm on a cold winters night. It is an old picture theatre that is now a restaurant with quite Art Deco decor. Even... More

Dined at Avalon last weekend with family. Sadly everything about the experience was average. The staff weren't overly friendly or professional. The food was average. I had the escallops of veal. The sauce was lemon overload and the side veges were over cooked and reminiscent of vegies you'd find at a RSL next to a $10 schnitzel. Food is boring... More

Set in old cinema with breathtaking view back to Leura. The furniture , lighting and even the crockery is art deco style. The very high ceilings give a good sense of space. The food was fantastic and its BYO. There is also a bar adjoining the restaurant.

We always enjoy dining at the Avalon when we are in Katoomba and our June visit didn't disappoint. The restaurant is a fun, eclectic place in the old Art Deco cinema. The staff are great and professional. The food is very good. The restaurant is licensed and BYO (giving you the opportunity to try a Central NSW wine from the... More

Description
Set in the historic Savoy picture theatre building, AVALON Restaurant and Bar at Katoomba combines playful bohemian charm with hearty food, friendly service and spectacular Blue Mountains views. Located on main street Katoomba, enter the historic Savoy picture theatre foyer and make your way past the ticket booth and up the stairs. The restaurant inhabits the dress circle of the old theatre, and offers a decor of quirky retro finds and spectacular mountain views over Leura and the Jamison Valley. Meals are prepared in the old projection room, and cocktails and retro tunes are served in the former refreshment lounge, now a cosy bar complete with roaring fireplace. The art deco architecture is complemented by an eclectic collection of furnishings and artwork. The style of service is casual and friendly. Licensed and BYO.
