We were a party of four. We were seated promptly and offered water including tap. We were then shown the wine list and the menu, a somewhat limited selection. On the reverse were listed seasonal vegetables which we understood are grown in the Millbrook garden....However, no vegetables are available on the menu. When questioned the waitress replied that vegetables were not offered but crumbs were. In the meantime we had ordered drinks including two well known beers which were served to the table in bottles which had been slightly spilt. (Fine dining service?!).After a little hesitation we decided to leave. We were left with a sense of disappointment. Our expectations did not meet the experience of other diners.More

Always a charming venue, the food continued to be well presented and the staff were very attentive. Although our preferred table was not available, a table outside was offered as an alternative, and on a lovely summer’s evening this was just perfect. The venue takes...pride in the ingredients all being locally sourced, and the waiting staff were knowledgeable about ingredients and very friendly and approachable. As always, we recommend.More

Make sure that you book. The service is personal and unpretentious. My wife and I ordered Wakanui beef and Akaroa salmon. Both were delicious and rated a genuine 10 out of 10. We finished with ice cream and sorbet selection that didn't disappoint. A wonderful...experience thanks to the chefs and the staff.More

Lovely atmosphere and menu although the serving sizes were a bit hit and miss. Beautifully presented but with only two true main course options. The beef / steak serving was too small for the price and as a main, more is expected. Recommend the homemade...bread - deliciousMore

We had the most amazing evening dining at Millhouse Restaurant. Tash who looked after our table was attentive, very knowledgeable and professional. Our table did the Carte Blanche and we were so impressed with each plate. The flavors, presentation and creativity behind each dish were...all fantastic. The wine list is impressive and there were some great options of iconic wines & wineries to choose from. Kumeu River Chard 14 is a must! A place we will recommend to anyone visiting the Queenstown region for sure - thank you again for a wonderful birthday evening! We will be back.More

Food, ambiance and service all excellent. First time dinners at Millbrook resort for us. When we arrived it was already dark so we were looking for the correct building (Millbrook has several restaurants) when we were stopped by another couple of other guests (likely regulars)...and asked if they could help us. We said we were after the Millhouse and they pointed to the correct building and said we would be in for a wonderful night and amazing food. They were right! Although there is an Ala Carte menu we choose the degustation chefs choice menu. Amazing. We both ate things we would not have ordered from the menu but throughly enjoyed. It was a masterpiece of flavours. Very enjoyable night at Millbrook. Can’t wait to go back with friends.More

This place tries to be a semi gastronomical restaurant but fails to deliver. The location is gorgeous and you pay for it for sure. The entrees were interesting but inequal in quality, some were great, other merely average. The mains were great, the meats were...cooked perfectly. Huge let down on the desserts, very pretentious and a poor execution. Please don't try to make molecular cuisine, it was interesting in the 90's and it's rarely done successfully. The floor staff were lovely and knowledgeable, kuddos to them.More

Went for the chefs choice/tasting menu of 4 courses a pre-dessert and a dessert. We're always wary of these options due to an allergy to shellfish - crustaceans&mollusks - and possibly other seafood - we're not too sure yet. We asked - are there any...courses containing fish or shellfish? They went to find out and we were told that only one course contained oysters and it would be substituted. We opted for that menu and confirmed once again if they were sure that only one course had ether fish or shellfish. Yes they were sure. Second course came..... cevice! It was so disappointing that we asked twice about fish or shellfish and staff still got it wrong. Now were confident it's not a white fish that causes the allergy so we eat it and it was absolutely delicious - but that's not the point. Next course - oysters were placed on the table... It was quickly removed and substituted though. The food was absolutely delicious - menu was varied and the atmosphere gorgeous. It's irritating that lack of attention to detail took the shine off what should have been a 5* experience.More

Dined at Millhouse with my partner on the tasting menu. Amazing summer menu very refreshing flavours and very well utilised ingredients. Fabrizio and the team did splendid things course by course, very happy with the flavours and the creativity. The garden produce at the Millbrook...is just getting the right fair play. Highly recommended experience such an incredible tasting menu.More

we had dined at Millhouse restaurant several years ago for a special celebration and we were excited to book again for our son's birthday. We got the shuttle bus from Arrowtown which was quick and efficient. In the restaurant there was an open fire but...with an inefficient chimney so the smell of smoke was persistent. We ordered some bread and whipped garlic butter to start for an eye watering $15 . The menu was odd: they said the plates were for sharing and yet they weren't tapas style at all. I'm not good at sharing and chose the kingfish starter which was fine. My main was the thick spaghetti, brocollini and shellfish. It came in small bowl, no parts of the above were readily identifiable, and when i tasted it it was incredibly salty. inedible. i mean inedible. I sent it back and they agreed it was too salty and asked if i wanted something else. No i didn't. They apologised but there was no effort to try and make amends, such as a free glass of wine . I don;t mind paying for an expensive restaurant but it needs equivalent value in service and food quality. We were very disappointed and left without dessert, saddened and disappointed. Won't risk going back.More

We went to the Mill House to celebrate our sons' birthday, as we had had a wonderful meal there for his 21st 3 years ago. The meal was not wonderful. The service was OK for an entry level restaurant, however for a purportedly high-end establishment...with high end prices it was not so shiny. The food ranged from inedible to average. We elected to leave (hungry) after the main course and seek sanctuary in a trusted venue for dessert.More

We have been staying at Millbrook every year for the past six years and we love the place. We just had dinner at the Millhouse for the first time since pre covid and the experience pre covid was great. Tonight was a horror. The mushroom...dish was a bowl of green slop without mushrooms, the tempura vegetables was the most unhealthy dish imaginable, the beloved chips were a one from ten, the line caught snapper was dreadful. We are embarrassed to have raved about the Millhouse to our friends in Sydney as there were here four weeks ago and obviously did not want to voice their disapproval of the Millhouse. We just called them to apologise and they opened up and gave us their honest opinion. Something very wrong in the kitchen.More

Hi Byron, Yes it is possible to book a table prior to your visit. Also worth asking if there are any large groups booked that evening to avoid any imposing groups.
