Food was amazing, it was a shame we had to wait for so long - had we known we would have chosen different items, however they were very apologetic

Average food possibly the most disappointing Thai food I have eaten . Bland and tasteless Had lunch noodles with prawns (4) , not much Thai flavor while battling to keep a fly off my food . Service very good
Excellent service on a busy Saturday night. We hadn’t made a booking but were welcomed, ordered drinks and our meal orders taken. Awhile later a complimentary serving of Spring Rolls arrived as compensation for the main course taking longer than expected. A lovely gesture. The...mains were substantial and scrumptious. A trainee waitress attended to us for part of the meal and performed well. Her boss should be proud. This restaurant also does takeaways. Would recommend as an authentic Thai Restaurant. Sawadee 🙏More
Delicious Thai food. The restaurant was quite busy and very noisy. Not a great place to go if you are hard of hearing. Usually at a restaurant a waiter/waitress can take your entree and main orders at the same time so it was a bit...strange to be told no we couldn’t do that and had to go around the table ordering entrees then go around the table again ordering mains. The food was tasty and there was a wide range of options on the menu. Would definitely returnMore
The restaurant and staff were fine but the food was a disaster. We ordered two starters of spring rolls and satay chicken and two mains of Panang Beef curry and Red Chicken curry. The starters were ok although the spring rolls looked they were out...of a packet and had very little taste. The beef Panang curry had tough, rubbery beef, raw potatoes and were inedible and the sauce that was so sweet, it should have been from a dessert - the balance was completely off. The red chicken curry had a black hair in it which was pretty disgusting! The only vegetables were some bamboo slices and a couple of sweet corn pieces. It was also a game of “hunt for the piece of chicken” as they were few and far between. The sauce tasted identical to the Penang curry sauce which shouldn’t be the case. All in all, it was very disappointing and it’s not somewhere we would revisit!More
First visit here & would return. Great service, very friendly. We all enjoyed our meals. Appreciated the complimentary spring rolls as there was a 35 minute wait for food.
Tongtara offers a large range of different Thai food. The food was delicious very reasonably priced. The service was very good .Food served promptly and well presented . Friendly staff. We would recommend this restaurant and we would return.
Fantastic meal out. From start to finish. Staff very friendly and happy. Priced very well. Meal was perfect. We will be back.
Friendly service but a little noisy Starters - curry puffs were OK but the deep fried battered prawns not so good Mains - we had 3 dishes and I could not tell the difference between any of them The Basil beef that I ordered had...very little beef and no Basil at all plus no heat - I found it very blandMore
During our South Island road trip, we stopped in Nelson and dined in at Tongtara Thai Restaurant. Staff were super friendly. The food was awesome. We tried Chef’s Special dish (green mussels, spicy chicken), it really had a great taste. And we loved the Thai...beers! Highly recommended!More
