Excellent cheese scones, cakes and super tea. Would have liked traditional finger sandwiches as per the Ritz but couldn't complain. Service was excellent. The house is lovely.

The tables are beautifully set and have fresh flower centerpieces; the waitress is impeccably dressed, and charming and looked after you beautifully. When the food arrives it is nicely presented and wonderful. tasting. The best experience though is to go for the 'High Tea'. This is so elegant! The cakes and sandwiches are to die for, and the tea comes... More

Melrose House is a really lovely, old-fashioned Café. If for High Tea, Breakfast or just for a cup of tea or coffee I feel always very special there.

I was staying just along the road and didn't realise there was such a wonderful cafe so nearby. I can see why it caters for so many weddings and events as the location and house are magnificent. The food is delicious and the service was superb. The best parts: I was there for lunch and the pancakes were incredible. Its... More

I think it might be the high tea that gets this place rated so high. Brunch was okay, nothing wrong with the food as such, but nothing special (except the price was a little too much for the quality). Limited menu - but covered the basics. It wasn't that busy, but service wasn't exactly fast. Too many other good places... More

We had a light lunch which was really nice. The service was excellent, the meals were great and the place is really nice with a trees and lawn view. I had a really nice juice which was very fresh and tasty and it stood out form other places we went to. I only wish we had tried the cakes as... More

The garden is lovely, so peaceful and quiet. The staff are attentive and professional. The food is exquisite and the beverage selection (both hot and cold ) is wonderful. Treat yourself, go to Melrose House.

Melrose House is one of Nelsons wonderful assetts a colonaded house set in beautiful grounds. My young grandaughter is interested in old houses so we visited for an elegant afternoon tea served in lovely china. Sitting on the balcony enjoying the ambience of the garden and house made for a different experience.
