A group of 7 of us were on a motorcycle tour of th he South Island and Googled TripAdvisor to see where a good place to eat would be. This place came up. Well......... staff were pleasant enough and did there job well apart from waiting for a beer for about 10 mins (then ending up with a extra one... More

We ventured here on the basis of the Trip Advisor reviews given. It was a really pleasant surprise. The staff were great and the meals had something for the three of us (vegetarian and GF). The 200gm eye fillet steak was terrific, chicken burrito devoured and the vege lasagne also enjoyed. Deserves all the good reviews it's been getting!

We arrived late in Tahananui and were lucky enough to just get served before the kitchen closed. The meal was great - ribs and fish & chips. We liked it so much we came back the next night and had Tuscan steak and salmon. On both occasions the food was excellent and tasty - quite big portions though! Service on... More

We ordered ribs and we were both disappointed as they were so over baked. The meat was dry and not enough sauce on them. Very bland too.

Dined here tonight and although was quite busy for a Monday we got great service. Spacious and well set out with inside and outside seating. Visiting Nelson on holiday. Dined here and chose the "headless chicken". Food was great, well cooked, nicely presented with good range of vegetables. Have eaten here in previous years and this was the best yet.

The Smugglers Pub and Cafe has a great atmosphere and was very busy when we arrived, might be best to book a table prior as we had to wait 20 mins. Had the large chowder which was thick, creamy and chock full of seafood. What made the chowder different was the addition of a little chilli to compliment the flavour,... More

Dined here on my own, place was busy and staff asked if I was ok to eat on the bar side which I didn't mind due to lots of male folk in the bar that night. Staff kept checking on me that I was ok which I really appreciated and the service was so quick. I ordered a burger which... More

Great welcome by friendly waiter, relaxed outside seating and some good food and wine recommendations. The Ned Pinot Gris was delicious. The place was buzzing with activity and clearly popular with locals as well as travellers. Good for families, groups, or a quiet dinner for two.
