Maybe the best restaurant in the eastern part of the coutry. The only minus is the waiting list/reservation but otherwise nothing significant.

DON’T HESITATE. Stop and visit this beautiful restaurant and boutique hotel. We had a pre-fix dinner as good as any fine dining I’ve had across the world. The staff is wonderful and professional and the surroundings are picturesque. We’ll be back!

First heard about the Gasperov Mlyn some two years ago from an accomplished Slovak chef and read a couple of very positive reviews thereafter as well, so I really looked forward to visiting one day. We came as a group of seven people and were...all very positively surprised, despite high expectations. The staff provided an impeccable service from the very beginning to the very end. The tasting menu we got a chance to enjoy (month of April) was simply perfect. The wine pairing offered great choices as well, but if you would be driving, there are many amazing soft beverages to go for. Besides the culinary art, I very much appreciated the tastefulness of the interior design, so the entire experience was remarkable. Currently maybe the most enjoyable place to dine in Slovakia.More

Skvelé jedlo, kompetentný a ochotný personál, veľmi štýlové prostredie. Je to zatiaľ asi najlepšia slovenská reštaurácia, v ktorej sme boli. Mali sme 9 chodové degustačné menu s osobitnými preferenciami, boli sme ôsmi hostia so zastúpením 4 generácií a každý z nás bol spokojný. Odporúčam každému,...kto vyhľadáva a ocení kvalitu. Great food, competent and helpful staff, very stylish environment. It is probably the best Slovak restaurant we have been to. We had a 9-course tasting menu with special preferences, we were eight guests with a representation of 4 generations and each of us was satisfied. I recommend it to anyone who seeks and appreciates qualityMore

Had the 5-course tasting menu. I loved how the chef turned traditional Slovakian ingredients into elevated, sophisticated dishes. The meal was well spaced, food beautifully prepared (and presented), the service attentive. My mom had the wine pairing which, at 20 euro, included four generously poured...glasses from small family Slovakian producers I would have never tried elsewhere. Reasonable wine by the glass prices. No amuse bouche, but an extra bread course and an extra dessert. Tastefully designed dining room with a modern fireplace as its focal point. Slovakia is not known for fine dining, so this restaurant is a definite standout, and a must-try if you enjoy good food. A few years ago, the Slovak Forbes named the chef #2 in the country, and, based on this experience, the designation is amply deserved. One small thing - given the length of the dining experience, perhaps more comfortable chairs would be in order.More

Let’s start with the good things. We first visited this restaurant last autumn which was an extraordinary experience. As others stated, you cannot fault anything. The chef is really talented and enthusiastic. From last visit I still remember catfish I’m not even very fond of,...but it was so well prepared and presented I cannot get it out of my mind. We had such a good time we decided to come back as many times as we can. Things got worse now. It turned out soon that the chef was on holiday and a young lady would be preparing our dishes. At this point we were not suspicious, after all it was a professional place with professinal staff it shouldn’t matter who was on duty. We started with chicken skin as a snack, instead of mayo fresh vegetables would have been better combination. Throughout the whole evening we missed fresh vegetables, salads they were not present not even for decoration. For second dish, we got a meat ball from goat meat with apple sauce. 1 hour had passed when we got the fourth dish, bread with “skin cream” . It was not very appetising and after starting with chicken skin we didn’t long for more fat. I don’t understand why bread comes for the fourth course, what sense it makes to fullfill your stomach with white bread. After that veal tail came with truffle, the dish attracted my attention reading the tasting menu. In fact, it was a piece of overdried ravioli. No sides, no decoration. It was difficult to depict of any signs of truffle. Forgive me, if there was any. After two hours passed, we were inquiring if it was possible to serve our young kid as well. Kids always come first, but the young lady planned to serve kid’s menu in the end. Upon request he got his chicken soup and we went on eating our soup: wild garlic soup with beluga and trout. It could have been fine as well, but somehow the three major ingredients didn’t harmonise in liquid. The trout felt soaked, the beluga swank to the bottom. The major disappointment, however, was catfish this time. The fish was so greasy, it was swimming in oil and the skin was burnt. Moreover, the sidedish spinach was so salty it was burning our mouth. I don’t think this “chef-said-to-be” lady has got anything to do with cooking. She was very friendly, though. I don’t want to go into details with my son’s main dish. An ordinary housewife could have made better fried chicken breast. The highlight was my fruit salad, two slices of apple and pear with some grapes, not much fuss about presentation. My suggestion is if you go on holiday you should close the restaurant for a few days. We”ll never return.More

What a great find in rural Slovakia. We had eight dishes during the evening and I cannot fault any of them. There is no menu as chef serves his menu although he checks with guests for any dislikes etc. All dishes were made with local...and high quality ingredients. The combination of flavours were perfect. The restaurant is very small and the chef pays attention to each table. The service was great as well. This is a truly amazing place.More

Wow, just wow. I am not sure if this is open all the time as a restaurant, as I was invited with a group that had reserved this place exclusively for dinner well in advance. It is a small, intimate, family operated place with a...top-level chef and staff and an exceptional young lady who is both the host and sommelier. The food is exceptional, beautifully presented. Many of the courses give a nod to local and traditional meats and game (or at least they did this night), and it was just perfect, really. I am not sure I have ever had a better meal.More
