Maybe an off night, but food definitely not up to standard. Pork belly was very fatty (I have had a few pork belly meals, and know what to expect). Steaks were well overcooked when asked for medium, or rare when should have been medium! Bar staff were busy, but that is no excuse for ignoring a customer at the bar... More

We had an early dinner before the tourist buses arrive. The staff were very friendly, helpful and told us of the tourist arrival in case we decided to go elsewhere. The half crayfish I had, at $45 wasn't as cheap as some I have had but it was very tasty.

There is obviously not enough competition in Beach Road. Had pork belly tough stringy meet when should be tender. Had group of six staff didn't want to know. Half my group walked out. When told if I ordered a certain way meals would come out together they didn't. Won't be back.

Popular local pub, lots of big screens to watch the sports, great prices and friendly staff. The feeling that everyones a local and you're in the right place. Food is good value and great portion size. Off street parking and a ride home if you need it.

Really enjoyed our meals. We were upstairs which is separate from the bar. So much good food and fun!

We arrived early but the place was already packed full as there was a televised rugby match on. The hostess warned us there would be a wait of up to an hour for the food but we weren't in any hurry and it actually arrived in 40 minutes. Very tasty well cooked steak and the seafood chowder was generously proportioned... More

Lobster Inn, right? But it's really a crayfish and a very pricey one at that. Tasty but a rather small portion for the money -- if you can't get it, don't offer it and change the name!

My wife's first visit to an NZ sports bar showing wall to wall horse facing and trotting. Not quite her usual atmosphere! Staff were friendly, the food was value for money pub grub and the beer selection reasonable.
