Above average pub food. Not fine dining, and not romantic but good honest food. We had chowder, calamari, rosti and pork belly all were delicious. Priced accordingly. Not bad but not great. 4 stars for comparing against pub food.

Service was good .we turned up 30 min early and I could see chef was going to have full seating so we did have to wait alittle for our starter. Lamb shanks and hog roll awesome meals. Good cray if you have 90 for a full one.room was cold and meals were out before starters finished.

Awesome spot. Great service. Was very impressed by the meal. Really warm and comfortable. Had visited this pub with my folks as a child so was great to be back there.

We visited The Pier for a late lunch after a morning swimming with Dolphins, all we wanted was some good food and lots of it and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was quite empty when we visited and had a nice pub feel about it, we ordered our food and drink at the bar and it was all brought... More

I was disappointed with the food having read good reviews about the place. We ordered the calamari, whitebait and crayfish chowder. We wanted to order mussels but were told it was reserved for the platter order only. The calamari dish was too salty for my liking. Crayfish chowder was nice but we were surprised by the small amount given. It... More

Very simple spot; no fuss. Great seafood; big portions and friendly staff. Good parking; wander along the seafront. Plenty to do nearby; some shops and other restaurants in close proximity.Good coastal walks but make sure you have a high factor sun cream!

During our visit to Kaikoura it was suggested that we visit this restaurant to savour the local crayfish. We had an extremely pleasant evening on a table outside the restaurant overlooking the water in the bay. The meal was excellent! The evening was very memorable and it left a very lasting impression of this part of New Zealand

Just stopped to watch sun go down over mountains and for a beer. Great pit stop. They are now offering a place to park self contained campervans next to pub great value too.
