Whist working in Christchurch I have chosen to travel via ferry as I enjoy old school travel. On our trip north from Christchurch to Picton, Elizabeth and I like to leave a little early so we have time to stop off for breakfast at Hislops. Fantastic breakfast menu - filling, homely and gluten free. Just enough to "break fast" but... More

We stopped on Saturday for morning tea but more importantly to try the raw food which has been getting a lot of promotion, the big cakes were nowhere to be seen so we opted for two little tarts to share with a cuppa. Ok but not wow.

The space is nice and warm for a winter visit. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Had the soup of the day and the rosti. The soup was nice and a good portion. The Rosti was good but not filling. Would probably go back but order more food.

Good cafe, with a nice atmosphere and friendly and efficient staff. Just had a coffee and a delicious muffin for morning tea. Will return to try out the lunch menu another day.

Good breakfast options and good coffee. Lovely sitting outside in winter sun. Dog was welcome outside to join us.

Stopped in for lunch on a nice day. Decided on something light and had the Soup Plate which consisted of the soup of the day (tomato) and a ham sandwich. Both were tasty and hit the spot. It can get quite crowded, but the service was quick and efficient.

Called in on our way home from Christchurch as we have done on numerous occasions. Had soup fries cake came to $39:50 Food was OK nothing special and service was slow and mediocre. Prices are way up there for what is on offer. Will not be visiting again.

Didn't get off to a good start. The lady that walked in behind me knew the girl at the desk so I was ignored. I waited a bit and sat myself down. Had to go and asked to be served the staff just kept on walking past. Once served though they were friendly and the food was really good. Healthy... More

We were looking for healthy but yummy food that and that us what we got. Food and service was great and we also loved the look and ambience. Each member of the family enjoyed their food and I could recommend this place all round.

After our Whale Watch adventure we needed a decent lunch and perfect coffee and stopped at Hislop's. What a good choice! Sitting outside in the shade our lunch was served. A seafood Chowder and the Salmon Quesadilla. To finish we shared a piece of carrot cake. All was very good prepared. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff very friendly.... More
