I came on a tuesday night to eat dinner too get the $12 curry special. The food was okay but not teriffic. There wasn't a long wait to eat dinner. There was confusion between the waiters as to who at the table ordered which dish. Probably to do with note taking about who ordered which dish and not keeping the... More

A very good example of a very bad restaurant. I have never left a negative review in my life & I do realize this is not Michelin starred restaurant. The guys at Shiraz Restaurant in Whangarei ripping people off but selling Biryani for $17.50 & all you get is the small pack of pack that you get in any take... More

Sometimes we plan to go to Shiraz, other times the visit is spontaneous. Either way, Shiraz never fails to please. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The food is fabulous - so much so that I'm slowly working my way through their delicious menu! This time it was a casual night out. Again, great service and beautiful food. I... More

We have been enjoying curries at the Whangarei and Kamo Shiraz restaurants for over 10 years. Always good quality food and excellent service. They start you off with a complimentary Popadom. The popadom plates are then removed and replaced with really hot dinner plates. Our current favourite is Lamb Kadahi. There's plenty of rice with a free top up if... More

I have taken my school class to this restaurant for the past three years and it has always been a fantastic experience for everyone. The manager gives them a tour of the kitchen and there is always plenty of delicious food.

We went to Shiraz on the spur of the moment and were very pleased with the attentive service provided and were offered a good range of 'specials'. The onion bhaji starter was excellent and one portion would have been enough for two people. This is a very good low-cost option when feeling like something more substantial than a muffin or... Jas is an excellent host and his staff are very affable. I personally like a Vindaloo but my wife prefers their Butter Chicken and now that they have the sweet shop next door I tried the Jelabis and enjoyed it.

My partner and I both enjoy various international cuisines. Shiraz is a fairly good representation of Indian cuisine. Although not the absolute best, the food was still pretty good and we difinitely enjoyed our meals. I standard of service is in a similar league. That is to say not the very highest standard but still perfectly acceptable and echoes what... More

We've been to Shiraz a number of times now, mainly for lunch- their specials are great value for money, and the kids love the food- butter chicken and chicken sagwala tend to be their favorites (great way to get spinach into them!). The staff are very helpful and respectful, and can also interpret the level of heat requested very well.... More

Description
Shiraz Indian Restaurant was the first truly successful Indian restaurant established in Whangarei. We have pleasure in bringing you the finest ethnic cuisine which evokes nostalgia of a glorious bygone era! Jaswant Singh and his team bring you the spicy, tantilising taste of India with a menu large and diverse enough for you to return again and again without ever tasting the same dish twice! You choose the degree of spiciness whenh you order either at the restaurant or for your home delivery. Traditional dishes from the best of authentic Mughlai and North Indian cuisine are there to tempt you, whether they be chicken, lamb, beef, seafood or one of many vegetarian dishes. Don't be concerned if you don't think you can cope with a hot, spicey curry as mild curries are available for those with a more sensitive palate. If you're feeling brave, try a hot Beef Vindalloo! As well as a huge range of curries, Shiraz offers a large selection of Indian breads and entrees to round out your meal. And after your meal perhaps a bowl of mango ice-cream would be nice to finish? Bookings are not essential but it is a good idea to call in advance as some nights are busier than others. SHIRAZ is a lisenced restaurant and has an excellent range of wines, NZ & Indian beers. SHIRAZ can be found in; Whangarei, Kamo and Dargaville. 5 Reasons why you'll have a great time at Shiraz 1. You'll have delicious freshly prepared chicken, lamb, beef, seafood and vegetarian dishes. 2. Your meal is prepared with the finest fresh locally sourced vegetables and dairy products. 3. Awarded A+ Merit food licence for food safety, cleanliness & training programmes. 4. Have a family friendly restaurant and children's menu. 5. Guaranteed you'll leave satisfied... Simple.
