Ten visits to date. This cafe is one of the North's Greatest attractions. In my opinion the Gallery is one of the countries best. The staff here are lovely, though rather sadly, not a New Zealander in sight. Coffee is not good. Food is very expensive for cafe food. Nevertheless the View and locations eclipse this. It is absolutely lovely.

This is a great place to break your journey on the winding coast road to Russell. We went here for an early lunch, which we really enjoyed on the patio looking down the valley to the bay. The view is v picturesque. The gardens are interesting with sculptures dotted about, and the gallery is very good with many varied and... More

About 13 kms from the main road, this cafe is well known and visited by lots of locals and tourists alike. When we were there on a Sunday it was packed, almost impossible to find parking. Highly priced art and restaurant - a Rolls Royce found its way into the small car park, just to tell you what sort of... More

Initially we were delighted to stumble upon the cafe and gallery. Hadn't planned to stop there, but it was on our way and I recalled reading excellent reviews. Didin't catch the name of the order taker/server, but I hope for the owner's sake she was just having a bad day. She was curt and rude. We made our own way... More

The road trip to Russell is a long one...and finding this lovely spot to stop and take a break was a real treat. It's hard to tell from the road if it's worth stopping here, and i confess we nosed our car down the driveway with real doubt about what we would find. This is a private residence/garden/cafe gallery set... More

Great service, fabulous food and views to die for. Great gardens to view, art gallery to look at but very expensive to buy and the dogs at the door a sight to behold.

Great views and gallery and gardens to walk around once you've had coffee etc. We've popped in here a few times as we holiday out this way. Although it's been a few years since we had a cooked meal here, we always find the coffee and cakes good. Definitely worth a visit.

Awesome view and if you just go for coffee it might be ok.... had the pancakes it was cold and warmed up in the microwave, not fresh. The eggs and bacon was pathetic!!!!! We will not go there again.

We stopped here spontaneously on our journey. Enjoyed looking at all the interesting art in the little garden and in the gallery. Spotted the deck at the back of the cafe, looking across to the bay over thick forest, and decided to stay for lunch. Butterflies and dragonflies danced around us. A super little oasis. Had the chowder, which I... More
