I think this cafe is tied up with a local church because it seems staff and customers alike were talking about church continuously. I came in for food, not a sermon. The food was good but not great, and the prices are on the high side. If the staff smiled a bit it would go a long way towards improving... More

The menu is good, the food is good, the setting is good. Most of the staff are good. I would have given a rating of 4 if the waiter was just slightly civil! I appreciate it was a Sunday and you really didn't want to be working, but for heavens sake, at least acknowledge someone when they thank you and... More

The food is over priced. We had to wait for 50 minutes for our food order which was just an omelette, which were burnt on the outside and uncooked inside. In fact this is not the first time, we have been kept waiting for our food orders. The Most terrible Cafe Ever!!!

Mostly I enjoy this Cafe but small things make an experience pleasurable like.. Would you like your muffin heated, or making your best coffee the first time. Food can be a bit pricey but you have good selection and is normally busy here so you must be doing something right or is it that there is no competition

Took my wife and children for a mother's day meal. Was clearly busy and staff weren't handling it well. They took chips off a menu item we often get (price the same so now an extra $4 to get chips). We didn't realise they'd changed the menu until the food arrived, so we asked to pay for chips and were... More

This is a great cafe. We visit regularly and the service and food is consistently good. It has a wide range of vegetarian and guten free options as well as plenty of more traditional cafe food. They will go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your meal and the staff is always friendly and efficient.

We called in here one afternoon for a quick bite to eat and we were all impressed for a start by the cabinet food. Everyone had a great lunch with beautiful hot drinks as well. Highly recommend pulled pork sandwich mmmmmmmmm.

A family lunch whilst on Holiday. The food was fantastic and service friendly. Lovely courtyard as well to enjoy the sunshine. Would definitely recommend to all and will be returning next time we're in Whangarei. Thank you!

While visiting my mum we called into Essence for brunch. What great food we had the Feta & olive pie & bacon crepe both where very tasty we topped it of with an iced coffee. Service was also very good. Will we go back YES Thank you

On Sunday I can understand why it would be busy - a nice setting on the main road and a lovely courtyard for relaxing. But we waited 35 minutes for a bowl of fries and eggs benedict, with no apology or warning from the kitchen.

Thank Emma B
