Came to Breakers on a whim not expecting much. Have been to ones in the past that left me extremely underwhelmed. This one was a pleasant surprise however. Polite, friendly service which was brilliant. There were a bunch of families in which was cool to see. The music seemed repetitive, how many times can you play Celine Dion? The food... More

Open early and closing late this delicious and reasonably priced bar and bistro is a good option for a drink in the downtown quarter. Food is reasonable and hearty and service was great. You can also request room service back to the Grand Hotel

Would be a great atmosphere if the food was decent but it is absolutely disgusting. New chef and menu would be ideal.

I have had three meals on different occasions and they have all been great and very good value for money. The bar and dining area have real historic atmosphere about them. I can highly recommend the grand for group and business gatherings. They also offer pub lunches.

Our first morning in Wanganui we ate breakfast here. It was nice and the staff were lovely and you couldn't fault that, it was just that it took more than 20 minutes for our food to come out after ordering it. Everything else was great - clean and tidy and a great atmosphere.

This restaurant had a basic 'plastic' feel to it, from the furniture to the menu, not to mention the general tidiness and feel of the place. It was very quiet, though we put this down to the fact that we were eating early for dinner - maybe, in hindsight, there were other reasons for the lack of trade. Having ordered,... More

Although smiling and polite the service was slow considering the small number of customers. The food was awful, overdone in general and tainted meat for the roast. What a difference from last year!

This is probably one of the most disappointing eateries I have encountered in recent times. The atmosphere in the early evening was dingy and dreary. There was a general air of neglect about the place. I imagine it would take a good deal of money to bring this place up to a reasonable standard. There was no beer on tap... More
