I have had three meals on different occasions and they have all been great and very good value for money. The bar and dining area have real historic atmosphere about them. I can highly recommend the grand for group and business gatherings. They also offer pub lunches.

Our first morning in Wanganui we ate breakfast here. It was nice and the staff were lovely and you couldn't fault that, it was just that it took more than 20 minutes for our food to come out after ordering it. Everything else was great - clean and tidy and a great atmosphere.

This restaurant had a basic 'plastic' feel to it, from the furniture to the menu, not to mention the general tidiness and feel of the place. It was very quiet, though we put this down to the fact that we were eating early for dinner - maybe, in hindsight, there were other reasons for the lack of trade. Having ordered,... More

Although smiling and polite the service was slow considering the small number of customers. The food was awful, overdone in general and tainted meat for the roast. What a difference from last year!

This is probably one of the most disappointing eateries I have encountered in recent times. The atmosphere in the early evening was dingy and dreary. There was a general air of neglect about the place. I imagine it would take a good deal of money to bring this place up to a reasonable standard. There was no beer on tap... More

We did exactly that , whilst in Whanganui , just asked a couple of locals , both pointed us to Breakers , close to main shops , so lets try it for lunch . We were greeted as soon as we entered , big smile and welcome , something that is sometimes missing , from here on could not fault... More

Terrible atmosphere, dark and dingy. Food was gross. Needs a complete overhaul. Do not recommend going there.

Good value more than classy. A modernised pub right in the middle of town. OK if you must but I'd recommend you keep looking.
