Last evening we arrived at this restaurant early after booking with a Groupon voucher. We were invited to sit outside on this balmy night and enjoy a drink. For an entree we shared the escargot (not part of the voucher) ver enjoyable, then we both had the beef Wellington with sliced potatoes with rosemary, and a creamy mushroom sauce as... More

It may be a small restaurant with an interesting history hidden away in Fitzroy St. St Kilda, but it offers a great authentic range of French cooking to tempt your taste buds. We have eaten here before as well as the sister restaurant in Williamstowm and could not fault either on service or taste. We commenced our dinner with Smoked... More

The waiter and chef were both French so the scene was set. We had a scoopon 3 course deal so was very good value. The service was excellent. Our scallop entree delicious. My husband had the beef Wellington. It was melt in your mouth. My duck a la orange was a but chewy but the flavour was there. The dessert... More

We tried this place for the first time last night as we love French food and had walked past it a few times. Surprisingly the place was empty which we find hard to understand as the food was fantastic, reasonably priced and the service was great. We'll be back, hopefully others will give it a go. Recommended.

Our old time favorite embassy@97 is finally back. Delicious french food and good service. Even better the staff can speak french. This makes it even more authentic.

This is our second visit to this lovely intimate French restaurant in the heart of St Kilda. We enjoyed a 3 course Groupon and were served by jimmy who was extremely helpful and a very capable waiter. The food was amazing, paired with great wine and service impeccable. Becoming our favorite French restaurant in Melbourne.

Truly french - the waiter even politely laughed at our attempts to speak French. With every course a wine was recommended - try the escargot for entree, the bouillabaisse was extremely good , as was the canard a l'orange. For desert - try the grand desert - you get a portion of everything. Even though it was expensive, it was... More

Almost a parody of itself, the presentation of the dishes here are a flashback to a simpler time. That in itself would be fun if the quality of the food was anywhere near adequate. Firstly the bread was stale, dry and hard. We shared an entree of the pate; overlooked and unseasoned. Not wanting to push my luck, I then... More

Description
Embassy at 97 has lovely, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. There is a giant chalkboard with chalk and colouring pencils and colouring books available for the kids as well as magazines and newspapers for the rest of us. The food is ranging from eggs to focaccia to traditional French food. While there is no specific children's menu, the chef is happy to do smaller portions. There is no charge for baby chinos and they have a great everyday special of coffee with a freshly baked on premises muffin, for $5! Seating is bench-style and there are tables outside: both on the footpath and in a small courtyard, meaning that you can sit with a group. Also of note is that there is a tram-stop directly outside the door.
