I always pop into Monarch Bakery when visiting Melbourne. Friendly, efficient service. I have the 100 year old recipe cheesecake but also try the other delicious offerings! Coffee is great and the atmosphere is brilliant. A must go to if you are a Saints fan.

Always stop in to buy some cakes for afternoon tea. Kugelhopf, cherry crumble and plum cake today. I heard these are the original recipes from the 1930's

Probably the best cakes & coffee in one shop in St Kilda. Easy walking distance from the hotel. Short stop before the tram

Had the Polish cheesecake and the Chocolate Saucher cakes. Quite disappointed that the richness of the cheesecake wasn't there and it tasted like it had too much gelatin in it. Sweetness was just nice and the softness of the cake was also good. Good to...More

From the street you'll enjoy a marvellous and memorable spectacle: tiers of cakes and other sweet treats. Tastes vary so I cannot recommend what to try. The ambiance is old-fashioned -- not a problem -- but service can be rude.

Came here to have a tete-a-tete with a girlfriend. Heard so much about the cakes here especially the infamous 100year old Polish cheesecake. I ordered the mocha which to me was made with loving hands. Very much reminded me of hot Milo drinks prepared by...More

So delicious! Great atmosphere and food was amazing. Old fashioned service! My teenage daughter loved her cookies and cream muffin and chocolate frog too!

One of the many old fashioned bakeries and cafes on the main street in St. Kilda, Monarch has been around for a long time. Cakes, cookies, chocolates, candies, etc. should satisfy any sweet tooth. Dated and average.
