Always find the staff attentive and friendly. Food top-notch, very tasty breaky and great coffee. Have also had lovely lunch here. Only downside, being a small eatery it's sometimes difficult to get a table.

I love the cakes, biscuits and slices here, great variety and always a few different ones. I can highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to have coffee and cake. Go for the lemon and macadamia cake!!!!

Cappuccino too cold. Waiter delivered coffee and left without getting breakfast order. Then had to call for a person to take my order. Maybe if the place was busy I could understand but there were more staff than customers. Breakfast was average at best poached eggs over cooked and oven roasted tomatoes not.

We were just driving down the Sturt Street looking for somewhere for a coffee and spied this place. Looked good from the outside and busy on the inside. Thought we were just going to have coffee, but ended up with scrambled eggs, pizza and soup! All was good and came quickly. Staff very friendly.

On a really cold, wet Ballarat day this place was so welcoming! Crowded, clearly a lot of regulars, with a nice cosy little fire. They keep the breakfast menu going until after 2pm, so I had a stack of roesti, smoked salmon, avocado, rocket with a perfectly cooked poached egg on top. It was perfect! My partner had the pie,... We stopped in for a quick bite to eat, they were nice enough to accommodate us when the kitchen was going to close for meals in the next 10 minutes. My husband had a Gluten Free breakfast and was really happy with the meal, while I had the Steak sandwich, again really nice, the proportions were very generous. We both... More

The Turret is a wonderful venue. The surroundings are sophisticated Victorian, very appropriate for Ballarat. The food is always great and the cakes and biscuits are wonderful. There are no better cakes in Ballarat, and probably not in Melbourne. The love and care put into the preparation of the cakes shines through! The staff are most efficient and very welcoming.... The food here is excellent, above the average in Ballarat. Always a preference for a weekend breakfast/Lunch. I know we will keep coming here for years to come

Our trips to Ballarat usually mean a trip to The Turret for lunch - the staff are always friendly and helpful, the food and coffee lovely and the specials board usually has a couple of surprises. Just wish that there was a lighter lunch option sometimes -maybe a smaller bowl of pasta or the like.
