Friendly buzzy staff trying their best. Had the ricotta gnocchi pan fried with prawn and basil sauce. A sad rendition- the small prawns that should have been the heroes of the dish looked like they had long surrendered to the villainous, stodgy Gnocchi which overwhelmingly outnumbered the shrimps. Light on taste (what basil?) and seasoning, with no help from the... More

Spent an hour with a friend in a quiet environment at 3 p.m. At 4 more patrons arrived by then and the place started to fill. The waitress was very polite. If you want a place with no interruptions for a meeting this is it.

Was catching up with a good friend so the company was more important than the food but what a find Elaia was. The service was prompt and friendly and the staff were well versed in the menu. The duck special was full of flavours and as was the chicken salad. Unpretentious food delivered with a passion and love of what... More

After two and half days visiting from Melbourne it was lovely to find a nice modern, well priced cafe to have a late breakfast. Quality of the food & coffee was great. Wish we had of found it sooner as the menu choices looked excellent, particularly the specials board. Staff were very friendly. If in Launceston again, we will visit... More

One of the most overpriced breakfasts I have seen? Small portions good presentation. But certainly not value for money. $7 for two pieces of toast, $30 for a big breakfast which is not so big at all

The food was delicious. Elaia was recommended to us by our B&B host. The young woman who served us was friendly, helpful with a big smile. Thanks Cass for doing such a great job. My husband and I would recommend Elaia to visitors to this beautiful city. Will come back for some more yummy food & great service on our... More

As it was Father's Day we decided to re visit Elaia, we weren't disappointed, my pan fried Ocean Trout with rice, broccolini, and bok choy was superb, as was the crispy squid, the fish and chips. The only thing I would comment on was the bruschetta price, we thought $24 was a tad overpriced for what we got. Our waitress... More

Our group of 7 for 9.30 breakfast - located on the fringe of the city - parking can be an issue so be aware - standard menu with no stand outs - for location and selection I'd call fully priced - I had scrambled with smoked salmon - small serve and nothing special - big breakfast looked good and coffee... Great cooked breakfast. We ate inside and, although slightly noisy, excellent food and service. Had the smashed avocado and haloumi with a poached egg. Not particularly cheap but a large serve. Coffee excellent. We stayed at Mantra Hotel Charles and Elaia was an easy walk away.

After an average experience for dinner a few months back, we decided to try the breakfast there. The menu was decent with various options, but was overpriced for what you received. I opted for smashed avacado & haloumi (reasonable priced at $18.50) but for 2 very small pieces of haloumi, tough bread and no seasoning on the avocado I wouldn't... More
