The restaurant is not for vegetarians. It is a steak-lovers restaurant. I had a delicious and very well-cooked steak. My only issue, is the dishes are served with the same side dishes, which discourages one from eating at the restaurant more than once if staying there. Each meal comes with a baked potato and coleslaw. You can swap the sides... More

Excellent food, cooked exactly as ordered. Could not fit in sweets. Service was top notch from always pleasant, smiling and helpful staff.

What a great place. It was highly recommended by a supplier when I mentioned we was in Mount Gambier. The restuarant certainly impressed us with a great steak cooked to perfection, whiting also cooked very well and a childs steak meal. The reception was very warming and service second to non, always walking past and ensuring the glass was full.... More

We had the pleasure of dining here on a busy night.. The special wagyu eye fillet was the best steak my husband had ever had! Both meals were cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed.. The only qualm we had was we waited almost 30 mins after asking for the bill (considering they were so busy we didn't really mind.)

Had the best steak I have had in a very long time. Happy to pay the price when the quality lives up to it. The wine list was fabulous and service attentive, happy and good. If you want a steak THIS is where you go. Desert delicious as well. All in all a very good night had by all.

The Barn is our regular on work trips to the South East of South Australia. We stay at The Barn Accommodation (see my separate review) and so eat here too. The steaks are fantastic and the wine list showcases much of South Australia. Service is always good, there's a good vibe going on inside and it's tastefully decorated. The presentation... More

We came here for my birthday and it was very special. The steak is amazing and is a generous meal that is well priced compared to other not so special steakhouses I've been to. Service was really good but slipped a little after 8pm when it got busier (so pick the 6pm sitting). They have an amazing and extensive wine... More

The steaks are to die for. Most enjoyable meal although a bit pricey. The service was good, with a good atmosphere.

A great place for wonderful food, friendly service and a fantastic selection of wines! Open fire in winter makes for a lovely atmosphere.

We select the best export quality beef available in the country. Our preference is for beef that is finished on grass as this provides meat with maximum flavor, just as nature intended. What we do differently at the Barn is that we age our beef on the premises for 8 weeks or longer. When you consider the work, the cost, the waste, is it really worthwhile to age beef for a long time? Most people and places say beef is aged when it is two weeks old. Like great wines that improve for 50 years, great beef gets sweeter, more tender and acquires a taste that cannot be duplicated except with proper aging.
