This is the one restaurant where being able to cook steak has been perfected. A simple menu focussing on steak, although there are other choices for those not rapt in steak. the accompaniments are simple, well cooked and delicious. We couldn't fit in deserts although I do have to say they looked delicious. The wines available are extensive featuring wines... More

Couldn't fault our meals here - they were amazing! I thought the service was fantastic, lots of staff all very attentive and approachable. Bit strange seeing kids here - would t have thought it was kid friendly. My husband and I thought it was quite fine dining. Not cheap but great food.

On a trusted recommendation we booked a table at The Barn Steakhouse. I had high expectations and they were smashed! No word of exaggeration, this was the most amazing steak I've ever eaten. This is especially unreal as I only eat steak well done. Staff were awesome too.

We were in Mt Gambier for the weekend and booked a table for 2 on a Friday night on Wednesday no problem. Had the scallops for entree and the fillet wagyu for main. Then we visited the wine room WOW!! We chose a nice bottle of Cab Sav. The steak was AWESOME and beautifully medium rare. We will come back... More

After hearing how "Superb" the steaks were we were anxious to try. The special rib eye with a bone was only served medium rare...Our temp of choice. Sadly it arrived medium, little red, more brown. Good wine list. They offered to replace, but didn't feel like waiting another 1/2 hr for another steak. Over busy, but service was good. After... More

Beautiful place! My partner and I both enjoyed the best steaks we have ever eaten. Service, presentation and location were all spot on. If wanted to do on the cheap could have dinner for two with one drink each for $40pp. You pay for what you get here and it is well worth it! Over 500 wines to choose from... More

Great service provided some great food. Had the Gorgonzola Angus and it was very tasty, soft and cooked just right. Followed up with a panacotta which was delightful to finish off. A great night and was quick given how busy they were

My partner and I both agree, best steak we've ever had. Melt in your mouth. You would be doing yourself a favour. Its a bit of a drive but if you're nearby, do it. You wont regret it. Slightly pricey but it is well worth it.

We select the best export quality beef available in the country. Our preference is for beef that is finished on grass as this provides meat with maximum flavor, just as nature intended. What we do differently at the Barn is that we age our beef on the premises for 8 weeks or longer. When you consider the work, the cost, the waste, is it really worthwhile to age beef for a long time? Most people and places say beef is aged when it is two weeks old. Like great wines that improve for 50 years, great beef gets sweeter, more tender and acquires a taste that cannot be duplicated except with proper aging.
